Will this restart after a power cut. EG :if you switch it off from the mains plug and then back on again an hour later does it carry on dehumidifing?
Doe this has economy mode for lower power consumption?
Has anyone used one in a cellar? (where humidity is the only issue), if so, how did it fare?

First impressions and minor flaw

I needed a dessicant for my Scottish garage that I will be using as a woodworking workshop. The relative humidity (Rh) in the garage was a constant 80% which is way too high to work with hardwoods. So after some research I found the PB10L dessicant model, and wow I gotta say I'm impressed. It's been running continuously on high for just under 9 hours when writing this review, and the RH of the garage has dropped to 50% !! I was fully expecting this process to take up to 3 days... And this is with a garage full of boxes and tools. The continuous drainage is a huge pro, as you don't need to monitor the tank. The only flaw I've found so far is the highly unintuitive plastic cap covering the drainage outlet. In order to reach the outlet tube you need to break off the cap. Like actually get knife or something else thin and hard, wedge it into the thick plastic cap and break it. The instructions don't really make this clear as they suggest getting a screwdriver, and there are no screws. So obviously googled it for a good 20mins before braking the plastic on my new machine as I wanted to make sure I was getting this right..If you have weak hands, or a loose grip you might find this difficult and could actually injure yourself as quite a bit of force is needed to break it off (and I'm a well functioning 37 year old male). If this is the case, get someone to help you with it.Bottom line: so far brilliant machine with a minor design flaw (that shouldn't deter you from it unless you have strength/grip issues)

Very good for those who keep their homes cooler in winter

I keep my home cooler in winter than most would, choosing to wear an extra layer indoors and locally heat one room to a couple of degrees higher than the rest. This means that other than that one room the rest of my home is too cold to use a compressor dehumidifier. In the past this has meant I have to turn the heating on and warm the whole house any time I needed to bring the humidity down if it's too wet/humid outside for me to clear it by opening the windows for 10 minutes. Then I found out about dessicant dehumidifiers and realised one could be a "2 birds 1 stone" solution for me.I got my dehumidifier yesterday and I'm already impressed at how quickly it pulls the moisture from the air (compared to my compressor one struggling with the lower temps). I put it downstairs where the humidity is the highest and the modest heat it generates has made its way upstairs to my main room as I'd hoped. Meaning I won't have to locally heat that room when the dehumidifier is running. So while the dessicant costs more per hour to run than the compressor one, the time saving on the humidity removal + the heat instead of using another heater it's definitely a cost saving for me.If you have a cooler temperature house, I definitely recommend the 10L dessicant dehumidifier. Very happy with my purchase.

Stellar Value for money

This pumps out easily 3lt of water in 6 hours (especially when I am drying clothes) so I am surprised that it is only rated at 10L.Stellar value for money. Especially during the winter.Desiccant dehumidifiers use more power, but they also heat up the room.I don't need a dehumidifier during the summer months since I can just crack a window open, but during the winter, this basically substitutes my ceramic heater. So it's a win-win-win.Dry clothes, prevent mold and heat up the room? For £160?How did I live without this?PS: Only complaint I have is that the vent points straight up. Meaning that there is no way to point directly at clothes when drying. But it still dries a load overnight when without this I had to wait for at least 3-4 days which also caused insane condensation on windows and mold

Very effective in all weather

The same effectiveness in both winter and summer. Highly effective if blown directly but less effective otherwise. The humidity sensor isn’t accurate enough as it only detects close proximity. A bit pricey.

Brilliant !!

As this was my first Dehumidifier I did a bit of research and as I live in a old stone two storey house with dampness and with colder temperatures i decided on the Desiccant version of Dehumidifier over the compressor version as it works better in lower temperatures. Here is my verdict after seven months of use all i can say it is one of the best purchases I've ever made.1: It works extremely well at removing moisture from the air in the house regardless of temperatures its very consistent and fills the three litre tank in a few hours.2: Its brilliant for drying clothes especially during the winter months or anytime when it isn't possible to dry them outside it will dry a laundry load over night (it use to take nearly take a week to dry them in the winter inside before I got the Dehumidifier)3: As well as dehumidifying it will warm a small bedroom quickly raising the temperature very quickly.4: Now i mostly use it in the kitchen area on for two hours a day and it keeps the humidity down as it was very damp in this area no more dampness on the walls or mouldy, or damp smell or food going damp.5: What I have found it is extremely consistent in the levels of moisture it removes regardless of tempertures at first i was gobsmacked at the amount of moisture it was removing so I'm emtying the three litre tank ever second or third evening but you can have it continuously drain with the supplied pipe if you wish into a sink or larger container.6: So if you have a older, colder house i would highly recommend this Desiccant Dehumidifier if your house is newer or warmer then the compressor version might suit your needs better as I believe it is more energy efficient.7: So the only negative is you can't run it on a timer as the machine has to be manually switched on but there is a timer switch which you can press to have it stop in 2, 4, 8 or 12 hour intervals after it stops it will run for couple of minutes to cool of so it is important to allow this to happen before plugging it out.8: I don't often write reviews but this product merited a review as I was very impressed with it.
