ICM Controls ICM517 Single Phase Surge Protector with Nema Type 3R Rated Enclosure, 2.16" Depth, 2.78" Width, 5" Length

Received the surge protector in good condition. It was easy to install and the washer and panel nuts came with it. I seem to have receive the latest version which was great. Installed this on my new high efficiency furnace because of all the electronics it has. Some may say it was a waste of money but these days the way the power gets switched around I wanted better protection. Great purchase.

Unlike many other surge protector reviews, I am not going to say this works great. I don't know if it will work at all, and I honestly I hope it never has to do its job. It simply adds a level of potential protection. Reread that last sentence. I WILL say that it is made in the USA, that is, the United States of America, and is therefore American made. That being made clear, it was easy to install and is now protecting my new minisplit. If you happen to have trouble getting all three LEDS to come on, don't despair. It is highly unlikely that it will need to be returned. With mine, only two LEDs came on at first, or so I thought. It turned out that one of the three LEDs was bent over and not aligned with the clear plastic lens that directs the light outward. All I had to do was DEENGERGIZE THE MINISPLIT CIRCUIT BY SWITCHING OFF ITS BREAKER, open the ICM517 up (by removing the two front screws), and tweak the offending LED so that it was aligned with the lens. Once closed back up, the all the LEDs were visible. I will buy one of these again if I ever need another surge protector. Buy USA products!

Easy to install and appears to be protecting with the green light on. Won't know if it really works until everything survives a power surge.

Needs better packaging! Instructions would be nice. Wait; see opening line, lost in shipping I'm sure.

Not sure if it will protect my a/c unit but better to have this device as insurance which is much cheaper than a new compressor.

I bought two of these to add to my small minisplits, 240V. The first thing was NO instructions OR warranty card in the sealed boxes. I had to search for installation instructions online.They should also offer different mounting versions of these - not all panels are set up to mount below the panel! In my case they needed to be mounted on the side, but the connection comes out the top. Since they use a generic sealed box with three exit ports, it was fairly straightforward to remove the hole plug and swap the connection to the backside port, but it required complete disassembly of the unit to route the wires out. A lot of extra work when it would be simple enough to just offer this version as an option?So far working well.

Installed this surge protector on my outdoor condensing unit. Anymore surging issues will be automatically sent to the ground wire. Easy to install on my 240v 1 phase unit.
