The axe itself is factory blunted, which we can take to a black-smith to sharpen it, blacksmith used a angle grinder to sharpen it. The handle is fiber glass, so the shock from using the strike will directly come to hand. If you prefer to use it regularly, then go for the wood handle version, which absorbs 75% of shock, which is less strain. And this is suited for using with both hands, watch some videos regarding safety. I have done shaving wood, scraping and batoning wood, which was good! And important to note, on improper usage this axe will chip-off its edge when it comes face to face with rock, so use a wood backing. Overall a decent experience!

Can improve the sharpness of the axe otherwise very good product

For the price, I am really surprised at the damage I can do with this. Whether its breaking doors, or hammering nails, or just breaking old suitcase locks or old furniture for wood - or even just scaring people away -- works beautifully. The blade material itself is not exactly top class, but for this price and the well designed handle, which is obviously waterproof, I cannot ask for more. I keep this right beside me near my bed for any unexpected skirmishes. I have other branded units of similar size hatchets and I like to keep this one to be used first as a frontline item, before I bring in the big ones :)

Very nice Axe with ergonomic design and great looks. Feels like an extension of your own hand with good pole in the back to hit the nail.But the metal is not of a great quality and will rust quickly.
