There is no connection per se, and if you were to try I think there might be issues with the carriages transitioning from one rail to the other unless perfectly aligned. In theory, it could work. In reality I think it would be problematic.

Q: Can you hang from these

The slider blocks appears To be made of aluminum in the outside and internally it has miniature rolling balls within a rubber or plastic guide. The block cannot be pull out or the guide beam, but depending on the weight you are planning to hang, it can be a hazard. The guide bars can be maker upside down with screws. In short, you might be able to hang stuff on it but you need to ensure it is not excessive weight!
