The media could not be loaded. My initial thoughts were more positive then as I was writing this review I discovered issues. The old one was pure junk. I only bought their product again for lack of a better optionI. Living on a boat I wanted a protective case. I am using these for my butane lighters instead of liquid fueled lighters as before. Lets hope it last. The old one started leaking in less than a year. I am not overly optimistic. If you look at the second picture you will notice when it closes the lid seal is uneven. Same issue with the old one. I think this is why it started leaking so soon. I think they need a better mechanical engineer. As I was writing this review I discover more bad about it already. No 0-ring and loose parts.

I gave it a 1-hour dunk in a couple of nested glass cooking bowls, with some graph paper in between that I use for water leak tests because it clearly stains the grid and didn't see a single water stain, no droplets inside the case, etc. That's enough waterproofness to make me happy. It's extremely light, perfect for my backpacking use. I wasn't sure if the lid opened automatically - there's a little spring in the hinge and it has a satisfying and fast one-handed spring-open operation. My dual-butane zippo fits perfectly and I'll put a split-ring in it and clip it to my backpack.

I love this case… the color… the material… and the build quality are all top notch. Even the packaging was great. I see why it costs what it does. It was a bit pricey for what I was looking for. I would make a great gift for an outdoor enthusiast.

I owned several of the original versions for camping and other outdoor activities. I recently purchased my second PyroVault 2.0 and it is absolutely amazing. The butane lighter insert way outshines the traditional fuel insert. I have had butane in mine for upwards of 8 weeks with no issues. The fit and finish is great with a good seal on the gasket. The orange color sides make it easy to find in a pack or bag. Excellent execution. I use mine regularly for starting my wood stove, outside fire pit and the occasional cigar. It has worked every time. Great work Thyrm team!

I had the first gen, lost it in the snow despite being blaze orange lol so I waited and these came about. They work very bit as good as the first one, including it’s ability to retain butane/sealing. The biggest difference as others have noted is that it doesn’t have the clip anymore, but a lanyard hole instead. As I never used the clip (as I’m sure most don’t) and instead keep my lighter in my pocket like a normal person, these fit much better in pocket and the colors are more plentiful/fun.Overall it’s a winner from my favorite US company, pretty sure I’ve got 1 of everything at this point from them

not what is promised... I ordered the case with expensive shipping to Germany. after it was delivered I filled a new original Zippo insert and placed it in the case. The whole thing then went into my backpack. After a week I wanted to use the lighter and found that the lighter fuel had completely evaporated and the wick was dry. the housing is therefore not tight and will probably not protect against water. probably not to be used as an outdoor lighter, when it matters and the lighter fuel has evaporated, you can't do anything with it. I am very disappointed!

Always bring a lighter with my as part of my EDC. The PyroVault 2.0 from Thyrm fits my Zippo Butane Lighter Insert perfectly (the PyroVault 1.0 was a millimeter or two too short!). Having waterproof, weatherproof fire at hand is a must, and this fits the bill, perfectly. Fit, finish, and design is typical Thyrm: excellent. Purposely chose the hiviz orange inserts for greater visibility - whether in a bag/pack or if it falls: easy to find. Would definitely buy again, definitely recommend.
