Q: Is the mounting plate large enough to drill holes to mount the vkb gladiator nxt?

you can mount with the gladiator next using the hole pattern that's there. I actually flipped the mounting plate so i could have my joysticks higher, and i mounted them with one bolt outside the mounting plate so that i could turn them more than the plate allowed for and have them a little closer to the desk. in their default state the joysticks are pretty low and don't allow for as much angle as i'd like. they are very well mde, they were perfect for my ch sticks, and they work fien with my gladiators but i might cut them and make my own plate so that i can get them a little more how i want them

Q: How much desk lip does this need?

I have an X-56. I wouldn't feel comfortable having anything less than 3 inches to attach it to. Taking into consideration the weight of the HOTAS and the mounting bracket. I am really happy with it. I was apprehensive with this style of mount. But it is great. Great quality. It is easy to remove as well.

Q: Do you think this could be used to mount a Logitech g29 racing wheel below the desk?

The G29 wheel is not specifically listed, but you may be able to drill another hole in the base bracket to line up with the mounting screws on the G29. I found these mounts (I bought two, one for Thrustmaster stick, the other Thrustmaster Throttle, and the fit great and stay in place. These were fairly less expensive than others I found. I like them and would buy them again, if needed.
