Next-Level WiFi — Fast, Reliable, and Sleek
This router is an absolute beast! I went from spotty coverage to full bars everywhere — and the speeds are insane. Setup was quick, the app is clean, and the design is something you actually want to display. Worth every penny.

A good WiFi Router and Easy to Setup
Because my old Netgear router got me so much trouble after serving me for several years, I decided to buy a new one. I found this Amplify Alien interesting and so bought one.It was easy to setup, allowing me to give the network a name and a password I like rather than the given ones. In additional to plugging the power and ethernet cables, everything was done with the AMPLIFI app. I guess I did it in less than 5 minutes. Every device except one worked immediately. The one that did not work was my HP JetDrive 2900nw print server. My printer HP Color LaserJet M553d did recognize the WiFi router but failed to assign an IP to JetDrive. Therefore, wireless printing is DEAD. Whether this is because the equipment is too old or something else. HP is perhaps the worst large companies that is incapable of providing a readable and easily understandable manual. Anyway, a new printer with wireless printing is on the way rather than using the odd JetDrive 2900nw.One little incident should be reported here. The router powered off during night time for no obvious reason as no one is using it. I don't know why. However, unlike my other routers such as LinkSys, ORBI and the old Netgear, this Amplify Alien does generate heat. This is my third day using this router. Except for the powering off in the first night, everything is working fine. I hope its quality is as good as my other routers. In summary, if the quality is good, then this is really good WiFi router.

Refurbished unit?
Bought new but looks like a refurbished product. The back of the unit was damaged, and it came with a Euro style plug with a USA plug taped to the outside of the box. I tried installing and it recognizes the unit but won’t connect, it keeps resetting to the factory default.I own 3 of these and this was to be a fourth mesh point, very disappointed with the seller.

DON'T BUY IT!!
Despite claims that this is easy to set up, it is simply not true!! After repeated attempts to connect to the internet, after following directions exactly, was unable to connect the device. My ISP tech said that the information being requested was automatically supplied by the modem and couldn't understand why it couldn't connect. The level of tech support from the router manufacturer is woefully inadequate, given the price of the item. Will never purchase anything from this manufacturer again. NO STARS!

Already knew it was just what I needed . . .
I purchased an Alien Router & Mesh combo about three years ago. I was able to place the Mesh unit on the second floor, in the opposite corner of the house, and connect it as a wired back haul because in the early ‘90s I ran Cat5 from my basement utility room to every corner of my house. This worked perfectly until I needed to connect my video security system, backup generator, weather station etc. All outside of the house. One of the limitations of the Alien is that the Router and Mesh unit are bound to each other and you cannot add a second Mesh unit - it can only be expanded by adding additional Alien Routers. So the opportunity to buy this Router was a godsend as the price was $100 lass than buying directly from Ubiquiti. All of my units are hardwired and I have complete coverage over my 1.5 acre homestead - inside and out. Couldn’t be happier!BTW - The Alien is truly Plug-N-Play. I’ve never seen anything easier. In fact, I even called Ubiquiti to make sure there wasn’t something else I needed to do to complete the setup! All you need is your SSID and Password - Alien does the rest.

Router is good but Amplifi's product support is bad news
The router is nice but the company is bad news. I ordered 3. But 1 of them had some oily explosion inside the shipping package. Like a battery or capacitor leaked. Is it safe to turn on!?!? So I ask for an RMS and they want me to pay the $15 PLUS insurance—for their mistake. I had to reach out a second time (after 3 or 4 emails back and forth) to finally get a return shipment with a paid label. Amplifi should support customers better than that (for a high end router).Beyond that, the router is excellent, easy to set up. This would have been a 5 star review, but a 33% DOA rate from my end and a terrible RMA process knock it down a star.

The best Router and MeshPoint
I originally purchased the Alien router which was by far the best router and highest performing I’ve ever owned. Needed to expand with a mesh to add Atomi lights outside. 4500 sqft home and the router does great all inside but the far reaches outside, was a little weak for the Atomi flood lights. Amplifi does not sell the Alien Mesh unit separate, so if you think you need a mesh, buy it with the router. I ended up purchasing a new Alien router/mesh bundle. Because it is a bundle, they are already paired. Therefore, I could not just adopt to my current router. I contacted customer service, Amplifi has THE BEST customer service, fast, helpful, and detailed. They sent me steps to unpair the router and meshpoint, I opted to return the bundle and just purchase the Alien router and use it with my current Alien router as a meshpoint. This was the easiest process, as soon as I plugged the new router in, my old router detected it and requested to ‘adopt,’ once adopted, the system comfigured itself and was up and working in 5 minutes. Connected my Atomi floods and they have perfect signal. If you need a router, don’t waste your money on another product, get the Amplifi router!!! Customer for life!
