Q: Can you change the display showing something other than the channel/code?

No, the unit I have is Black, a piece of well placed electrical tape would almost disappear if you want to cover the display. The channel, code & menu keys are still exposed someone could push by mistake... and change operating frequency. Maybe cover those too. Out of sight out of mind. But tape easily removed to reset settings.

Q: Can you use 2 at one location and 2 at another ?

Q: Do you have to reset the the timer on the monitor like the old model

Yes, the monitor function has a 10-hour time limite, if you need to monitor for a longer time , you have to reset it again every 10 hours. About this issue, this is the working principle of the intercom system.
