This isn't a tuner for duramax it only monitors your temps boost and vane position sensor has a lot of other options to use for the vehicle though

Yes, that is correct. It works well with custom tuning products or as a stand alone monitoring device.

Q: What type computer is needed for doing updates (i.e. windows, mac, other, all the above)?

All of the above work, keep in mind if you are running beta software on your host update computer, there may be issues. Standard public releases of operating systems will work to update the Edge.
