I wanted real and resonable. This is both.
I once had an authentic WWII katana (the blade dated to the 1700s). I gave it as a gift to a deserving person, but ever since, I have been looking for a real katana. If you're reading this review, you already know the world is full of poorly designed and manufactured katanas. Anything priced under several hundred dollars looked embarassingly cheap. This katana caught my eye because the design is elegant and simple, which are qualities found in better examples. I had given hopes of getting a decent-looking blade, but the photos of this one looked clean, sharp, and very similar to my genuine katana.I read the reviews and was impressed with what people said after seeing the real sword. I decided to risk this insanely low price and return the item if it was fraudulent junk.It arrived yesterday and I have to say this is a lovingly made piece. I know that may be a surprising thing to say, but the tradition with real katanas is they are the pride of whoever made them. A maker's integrity as a human being could be judged by examining one of the swords they made. This item has a low cost, but the integrity is very high. Carefully chosen and assembled materials. Attention to detail. Good (no great) quality materials. In other words, well worth two or three times what I paid.I cannot judge the quality of the blade. If you want assurance of that, shop for a katana in the $3,000 to $10,000 range. But this blade matches the curvature, edging, and general appearance of my original one. Some said their sword arrived unsharpened, but this is keen and unblemished.I wanted a real katana at a reasonable price. This exceeded my hopes in both respects.

Recommend THIS over and over
I stand corrected I HIGHLY recommend this sword. the first one I received had a few tiny problems nothing extremely marjor but still even with those minor problems the sword overall was put together very solid and felt awesome looked great as well I did a review on this the first time and gave them a one star simplely because the blade had a very tiny bent tip on it hard to see unless you look close anyways I left the review and immediately they got back to me and said they were very sorry about the sword and they assured me that a new one would be at my door free of charge yes they are awesome and the second sword I received was perfect and extremely sharp very solid and its just perfect I love it I RECOMMEND THIS SWORD AGAIN AGAIN AND AGAIN not many actually reach out to the buyers but they did and I received this new one in like a week super fast this is a quality katana for the price and if you are looking to buy one stop right here and GET THIS SWORD THEY ARE BUILT GREAT. THANKS FOR THE KATANA!!!!

Excellent buy for the money
For less than $100, it really exceeds my expectations. I watched YouTube reviews comparing it to $500, $2000, or even the real Japanese katana, and trashed talk this one. These reviews are not being realistic. I am happy for this katana, it feels real, looks real, and the materials are solid. It is not perfect, the tip of the blade has about 3mm bent, I think file it a little will fix it.

The only reason I probably won't buy again.
A quality sword, beautiful (real) hamon and very sharp. Balance is 4 inches(101.6 mm) in front of the Tsuba , very good for me. THE ONLY thing that will keep me from buying a few more is that the Saya is very loose and the sword rattles around in it OR I WOULD BUY A FEW MORE. I wish I could trade my Saya for one that fit. My 7th sword from 5 different manufacturers and I'm still looking for "the one" Review from Don Curtis on 7-1-2025.

Sword hotter than my ex wife
I can’t believe this sword is this cheap. It’s perfect. All the comments praising this thing like a loyal lover. I love this thing, more than I loved my ex. It’s beautiful and will never leave me. The maker of this sword put genuine time and effort into the construction of such a master piece. Which is more than I can say for the ex’s job of doing the dishes. Thank you grand master

Very high quality especially at the price.
This sword surprised me! The quality of the blade is exceptional with a well pronounced hamon line. The binding of the tsuka is well wrapped and the tsuba is of very nice quality when compared to some swords costing twice as much. There was a very small burr on the boshi of the blade but was easily stropped away. All in all I am very happy with my purchase.

Grab Bag - But Sharp!
I ordered the "Golden" style, which is the blue scabbard with a gold pattern on it, along with the blue and red hilt sword and (blue?) "folded" style blade. It's a beautiful sword. It is VERY sharp. In general, for $119.88, it's probably worth the buy for your first katana. That said, I returned the item, and here's why...When you buy this thing, you really have no idea what you are getting. The description says "Damascus / 1060 / 1095 Carbon Steel, Tempered/Clay Tempered, Full Tang, Sharp, Scabbard." So--is it Damascus? Is it 1060? Is it 1095? Is it folded Damascus with 1060 and 1095? Is it tempered or clay tempered? Both? The images for all 3 swords have the same description but clearly the other two ("Blue" and "Yellow") are not folded, thus not Damascus.I can tell you these facts: all the fittings are cheap alloy; the handguard, pommel, etc. Along with that, compared to a sword from, say, HanBon forge, this feels like a lightweight toy. Likely, what you are getting here is 1045 steel with acid etching for decoration. The hamon is not real, so there's no clay tempering going on here. The ray skin is plastic synthetic. It's really not a terrible price point for what you (might) get, but the problem is, you really don't know what you are getting. I'd recommend spending $120 at HanBon for more certainty of blade quality and all the rest of the parts.
