For using Davis legacy software on pc
I like the new console but wanted to use the legacy software, real time capability on a pc. Works great and the recieving range is about 3 meters better than the new console. For me it was worth the cost.

Incomplete product, grossly overpriced, and DRMed.
This product is falsely advertised. The short USB cable in the picture is NOT included. It is part of the "datalogger" module. Even that module's name is misleading; it is required for all communication, not just for logging. The USB interface could literally be provided by a single chip (for example, FTDI's FT232HQ which costs $2.60), but Davis charges $150 for the "datalogger". Partly the price is so high because it's bundled with Davis's software, even though that software is so terrible that most customers replace it with third party software. Alas, Davis refuses to sell the "datalogger" without the software bundle. The "datalogger" is trivial to build, and several third parties have built them and sold them for ~$10, but Davis chose to alter its interface to break compatibility with third party (and its existing customers' Davis brand) dataloggers instead. Now it makes veiled threats to prosecute third parties under the DMCA's anticircumvention clause even though compatible dataloggers are still trivial to build.Instead of paying $297 for the Envoy plus Davis Datalogger, I'll buy a SI1000 radio and reprogram it to talk directly to the Davis Sensor Suite. Total cost: $100 and I get two radios. Search wxforum dot net for "Si1000" for instructions and links.

Works well enough but shouldn’t be needed
Relatively easy to set up, but I still wonder why neither this or my Vantage Pro2 can’t connect to our home network via wi-fi. It seems to me that this shouldn’t even be needed.

Far from Plug-and-Play
Eventually got this to run, but...Does not work well with a Mac computer.Instruction manual is poorly written.Support desk at Davis is brusque and incompetent.

Great Weather Gateway
I love our new Davis equipment. I have the wireless ISS Vantage PRO system on a guy wired pole approximately 250 feet from our house. It transmits to the base station in my Lab and to the Envoy. The Envoy was easy to set up and I mounted very near my network cluster of a Bright House Arris cable modem, Cisco E4200 wireless router, and a Linksys 8 port switch. I have the sample rate set fairly high at every 5 minutes and the Envoy has been collecting readings and providing those to the partnered internet services like The Weather Underground, NOAA, GLOBE and Davis with no difficulties. We have also gone through several wetaher related power glitches since installation and the Envoy, ISS, and display console stay up with no annoying difficulties like having to fuss with configurations and so forth. The wireless connections have been solid. It is very kool to be out on a road trip somewhere and connect to the system via the internet and see what is going on with the weather at my house!

it was easy to set up
This works, it was easy to set up. We now have a Davis and Wunderground webpage. Also able to see home weather on my iPhone.Used this with the WeatherlinkIP data logger. Wireless is the way to go.
