Great investment. I make a lot of bread and this slice perfectly. One thing is a standard bread knife isn't long enough to go through.

The bread slicer looks aesthetic and is pretty sturdy but doesn't work very well for breads with a softer crust (i.e., Tangzhong or Japanese style toasts). Even with a sharp forged knife, it was difficult to keep the bread aligned with the slicer because the slicer itself is so wide and leaves a gap. One thing I didn't like was that there were a lot of tiny wood splinters. They were fairly difficult to clean because much of it were in between the prongs. The board they gave to align one side of the bread helped, but there was no way to shrink the width of the slicer to fit a smaller bread. Additionally, the gap in between each slice is too large so you would have to carefully keep pressure on the knife to keep it flush with each prong which makes cutting even slices all the more difficult if you're working with breads that have a soft crust. Overall, this does the job but could be improved.

When I first started making sourdough sandwich bread I would cut the loaves freehand, which would lead to some sandwiches being mostly sourdough or some sandwiches being super thin and the super thin ones would end up falling apart… It would never give me an exact idea of how many sandwiches I could make during the week.Since purchasing this tool all my bread slices are now even…The sandwiches taste consistent and I’m able to plan out lunches for the week because I already know how many slices I’ll have and the bread looks like similar to store bought bread loaves… which is important to me in trying to get my children off store bought and more home made… it is important for food items to look similar to their store bought counterpart. so if you’re looking for something more consistent and more like the bread at the store I definitely would recommend getting one of these. It isn’t a necessary tool but it is helpful…

Works so well I bought a second one for a vacation home.
