Love the sensor, hate the price. As others have said, the fact that this thing costs almost as much as the whole base system is a REAL problem.I've installed this, and the solar sensor and have learned lessons that I won't need, but you might:Assemble the sensor and the shield while you're safely on the ground at a table. That way you won't be scrambling down your roof after things. The outer shell needs to be oriented so the level is to the outside of the mount - the one on the left points out to the left, the one on the right points out to the right.Put twist ties under the little plastic retaining clips. You MUST have the clips to keep the springs from being lost except at the very end. But they don't hold all that well. Both of my sensors only have one plastic clip left in place so if I ever have to take them off I'll need to use twist ties to keep from chasing the springs. Once you have the screws started (in the correct orientation) then you can remove the twist ties.As I said, get the sensor, shell, screws, and springs all set up while safely on the ground at a table where you can easily recover anything that falls. Then add the twist ties for extra security. THEN go up on the roof to install the sensor in your system.Hopefully Davis will see this and amend their installation instructions.

Professional grade hardware as one would expect from Davis

I had been waiting to get this sensor for many years to complete my Davis ProVantage 2 setup. When I saw the price drop by 30% it was finally time to get it. The one thing that wasn't clear when I bought it was that you also needed the mounting platform, sold separately, to mount it to the unit. I had to purchase this separately and at that point decided to also get the solar sensor since the platform is designed to hold both sensors.Installation took some effort. In fact, it really needs two sets of hands to get mounted to the platform and mounting the platform to the base of the rain cone also took some trial and error. Once the sensors were plugged in, though, the station took care of the rest.I have enjoyed having these sensors and the readings that they have been getting are consistent from other readings in the area. So, in the long run my only complaint was the fact that it wasn't clear that I also needed the mounting shelf.

Easy to hookup to any micro controller

Works really good with the MKR1000 micro controller, just connect the output to your analog input.Here is a quick code:Per Davis manual: Green wire . . . Output (0 to 2.5VDC); 150 mV per UV Index, so:const float multiplier = (3.3 / 4095.0);void UV(){ adc0 = analogRead(A0); uvIndex = round((adc0 * multiplier) / 0.150); Blynk.virtualWrite(V7, String("UV Index: "), String(uvIndex, 2), String("\n"));}Feed your data to Weather Underground, and you will see a graph like the picture attached.

Big bucks, works

Not sure what else to say ... nice addition, works well but seems to be too expensive.

Overly expensive, but does what its supposed to.

This device is HIGHLY and UNNECESSARILY OVER-priced by ALL distributors, but i wanted it to complete my weather station soooo.....Easy install. Plug and play. KNCHIGHP24.

Works just as described

The Davis UV Sensor does exactly as it says it does.. Detect the UV radiation at your Davis Weather Station,What I was not impressed was the $300.00 plus price tag for this one sensor. that was almost the price of the whole weather station as it was, muchless for this one sensor. But I guess if you want to know The UV Levels this is the only way you will know.I gave it a 3 star only because of the high price of the item.
