Women's Montreal Knee-Length Down Puffer Coat, Fill Power 700

Marmot products are great quality in general, but while the coat seems like it would be fine and very functional for someone with small shoulders and a small bust, if you are at all busty or have big shoulders, avoid it! My measurements fall between the medium and large for most women's winter coats, and I chose to size up to a large rather than down to a medium because I saw the reviews that said this coat is small in the bust, and figured I wanted to make sure there was room to wear warmer clothes underneath it. Unfortunately, this still wasn't big enough. The coat runs very small. Even over a rather thin top, I couldn't really zip it. I was disappointed, as this coat seemed like a great deal for the money. I am returning it. I ended up going with the (sadly) more expensive North Face Arctic II Parka instead, which fits beautifully and is warm as toast.

I have a very hard time finding clothing that fits properly, especially outerwear. Throughout the past winter I've tried on a zillion coats and actually purchased/ordered over 20 (yes, really). I bought this one specifically because I saw consistent reviews stating it runs a full size small, and I'd say that's accurate. I'm 5'1", <100 lbs, ~30C/32B and I normally need an XXS/00 petite. I'm so glad I got this coat in an XS--it works perfectly. I find it totally comfortable and I can still layer a sweater or sweatshirt underneath. The arms are not oversized balloons like most other down or insulated coats. The baffling is wide, so it's puffy and the silhouette does flare a bit, but it fits my torso well and it's very warm and easy to move in (standing/walking/sitting/stairs).The way the coat is lined is great. The cuffs are a regular fleece, but the body has a fuzzier/minky cozy fleece. The collar is soft and the pocket lining is kind of micro-fleece-ish, but doesn't catch on dry skin (YAY!). The collar is not too tall, so you can zip it up all the way as needed without feeling like you're wearing some sort of medical brace. The hood is fairly fitted, which is good in my opinion because it will stay put in windy weather. The faux fur isn't the best I've seen but it's not the worst, and you can remove it if you want. On the inside, there's a deep slip pocket at the left chest (i.e., open w/o zipper) and a zip pocket at the right chest. Another little feature that I love is the front main zipper stops about an inch above the hem, which means the bottom zipper pull doesn't extend beyond the hemline of the coat. That always annoys me, so I was pleasantly surprised by this thoughtful design feature. The fabric is not so thin that it feels certain to rip/pull, but it is quite lightweight; it's matte and doesn't rustle loudly as you move. I tried the Marmot Strollbridge coat as well, which I liked for some superficial design features like the baffling and the magnetic placket that covers the zipper, but it didn't work as well overall and the color was a little too off-black.FYI, even though the photos don't accurately reflect this, the difference between "Black" and "Jet Black" on the Montreal coat is that "Black" has contrasting medium-grey stitching for the Marmot logo, while the "Jet Black" has what I consider to be nicer, much less obvious black stitching (as seen in the image).I'd highly recommend this as a very warm mid-thigh coat that's light as far as literal weight in pounds/ounces goes. I would recommend ordering a size up from your regular size, and regardless of what that is, I don't think this is the right choice for someone who is particularly busty or has proportionately larger arms.

Love this coat, BUT I ordered a large and it was way too small. I am 5'5 140lbs with a 36DD chest, this should have been roomy as all of my other long parka type coats are, I am returning and ordering a size up, I hope it fits better :(

I’m obsessed with this coat, it’s warm and looks good. I got a medium, I’m 5’8” and about 140 lbs - I ordered it with Prime Wardrobe to try it out first and ended up buying it.

I did a lot of research on winter coats after moving from Texas to Michigan. This coat was rated as being THE warmest on multiple gear review websites and while I can't speak to that comparison I can say that this coat has kept me warm to -15 degrees with and without windchill on multiple 15-20 minutes walks with my dog. I am definitely warm blooded, so anything lower than 60-70s and I start to get cold. I can wear this coat in the cold with even a tank top under it without any problems. Hood works great and I love that the collar comes up high and zips up without feeling tight around the neck. The only negative I had was the sizing was a bit off.. I'm 5'1" and 102 lbs. but I have broader shoulders and the XS fit perfect except it was VERY tight in the shoulders so I went up a size which resulted in a slightly longer and more wider shape but I couldn't care more, it keeps me warm.

This is a beautiful coat. The fabric feels lovely. The steel grey was just as pictured. I gave four stars because it is certainly not knee length on an average 5’4” frame. About 4 inches above the knees on me. I’m almost always a straight up small/medium in coats, but thx to other reviews I ordered a size up and got a large. Top part of coat fits perfect...but to get that extra shoulder room I had to sacrifice a more fitted waist...that’s a tad big there. So hey, I can get away with a bulkier sweater so not a bad trade off in the end. Hope this helps people so they don’t have to waste time shipping back and exchanging to have this terrific coat.

This is a really nice coat. The lining is minky soft. The sleeves aren’t to tight for a layer underneath. I’m 5’6 and usually a size 12 and love the fit of the XL.Because of the Aline style with no internal waist cinch cord I need a puffy vest layer for core warmth on the super cold days. The hood is a bit big as in too deep, which is great if there’s weather coming down on your head but makes it hard to see peripherally. I may try to rig a clip in back or something.This is the nicest most expensive coat I’ve ever bought myself and I think it’ll keep me warm in winter for many years. I definitely recommend it.

I bought this coat for a trip to Alaska in the winter. (I live in Florida and we don’t have winters here.) The jacket fit me perfectly. I bought this one and another to try on. This was by far the better jacket. I love the texture of the fabric and how it did not take up much room in my suitcase when folded down. I wish we had winters here because I would definitely wear the jacket more often.

A nice simple, warm coat. However i found the fit is too tight in the chest area, and too large in the hips. Also it is not remotely knee length. More thigh length. Went to return it and found a massive price increase if I bought one size up. There is in general, an odd discrepancy in pricing.

I bought this jacket a couple of weeks ago and I love it. It's warm and stylish. It's a bit on the small side as far as sizing. I'm normally a medium. I'm 5'4 and 140 pounds. I opted for a medium but it is a bit snug in the chest. Would recommend to go up a size.

Love the coat. Length is perfect as I am a mid height person, fit is also good consider I don’t have big chest. But I did purchase a size up as I like to be roomy for a winter coat. Warm and soft. Not sure how it works under wet snow... will see in Dec.

First one I ordered at large. Way too small. Order an xl. Sleeves are not as long as I like. I love the feel of the coat. The hood is deep.It doesn’t seem like it will be warm.I’m no way dose it feel like there is enough down in the coat. A where the coat may be snug on the body, it becomes a cold spot. I’m returning this one as well

Leider fällt der Mantel zu gross aus. Ich hatte den Mantel schon einmal beim Otto.de in Größe L bestellt! Leider fielt er zu klein aus !!!! Ich war von der Qualilät und Leichtigkeit so begeistert, dass ich weiter überall gesucht habe und wurde endlich bei Amazon fundig. Nun habe ich der Mantel in XL bestellt. Nach 3 Wochen habe ich ihn endlich erhalten...ABER er fällt zuuuuu gross aus! Habe ich nicht daran gedacht, dasss wenn er aus USA kommt, dort die Größen anders ausfallen können.. Leider geht der Mantel zurück!

I love this jacket and get a lot of compliments. It is nice and warm for a Vancouver, BC winter. It also does ok in the rain and has fuzzy pockets and liner.

Wonderfully warm, light and a perfect coat to walk outside when really cold.Was great advice to size up as compact fit.If one is tall, will not be knee length but a perfect fit at 5'2".

La qualité de ce manteau va au-delà de mes espérances. Il est chaud et la coupe est parfaite. Je mesure 5,3 et pèse 100 lbs et j'ai pris le x-small. Je dirais que la grandeur est standard. Les manches ne sont pas trop longues. Il m'arrive au milieu de la cuisse. Il est un peu ajusté. Bref, il est parfait!

Beyond stunning this is a beautiful coat very well made extremely warm gorgeous colour the zipper is easy to use and it’s warm really really warm. Hat drops low but I like that.

Do not leave the house in winter without this bad boy. Warmest most comfortable coat I have ever owned, with more pockets than you would ever need. Fits perfectly. I LOVE IT!!!
