Cars Race O Rama - Playstation 3

I'm one of those who grew up in the generation in which "Cars" was first released and I remember playing the original PS2 video game adaptation from 2006 (but unfortunately that version never got a PS3 remaster so I settled for this little gem). I wasn't sure how "Cars: Race-O-Rama" would be or how close it would feel to the original PS2 version I used to play as a kid, but when I sat down to play this little racing gem I was pleasantly surprised! I have to admit this was worth every penny and was actually (and unexpectedly) very fun! There are some great missions and levels to play through including some iconic movie locations such as Radiator Springs and the Raceway, and I like that some of the missions on this game are actually somewhat difficult! Some of the tracks can be a challenge and will require a few play throughs to get the score you want. The game also features iconic characters from the movie and they're all voiced by their original film actors (which was a major plus in my book). The gameplay is simple and easy enough and the graphics (for 2009) still hold up beautifully! Like I mentioned before, I wasn't sure how accurately this game would depict the nostalgia I have for the movie and the original PS2 video game, but this one definitely came closer to both than I was anticipating. Definitely recommend this if you're a gamer or someone who grew up with these kind of games and movies and are looking to relive some brief nostalgic moments! And if you're one who has this item stored away in your wishlist or if you keep adding and removing it from your cart cause you're not sure if it'll be worth it... just do yourself a favor and don't hesitate, just buy it! I can't believe I've waited this many years to play this!

Boys who are fans of the movie will really enjoy this game. Most boys will chose to be Lightning McQueen first, but will soon try other characters. Game has "guard rails" literally during racing. Cars run too far will get reset back on track. Great for kids going nuts with the steering wheel.The "kart" game features Luigi and Guido and their "foes" from the Chick Hicks' camp in the final race. It's like Mario's Karte game.The story mode maybe a bit challenging for younger kids, so most may just have fun in the arcade mode.This is a simple racing game compared to other more serious ones. So as such there is no good support for pedals that come with some steering wheels, or force feedback. I took a Thrustmaster Ferrari Wireless GT Cockpit 430 and re-mapped controller buttons to pedals (accelerator and brake/reverse), which allow my boys to drive like a car.I notice there is only automatic transmission (I could be wrong), which make sense as a game for younger kids.The game has the right price for its functionality, and if your kids like the characters in Cars the movie, then this game has very good entertaining value.

the one good thing about this game is that our 4-year old daughter can simply steer the cars by holding the controller and turning it, as opposed to using the arrows or joystick to turn the cars. It makes it so much easier for her, unlike other driving games that she's tried to play. My daughter seems to enjoy it, but gets pretty bored with it quickly.

it will not work on a ps3 it does not tell you that will not buy from seller anymore

Did not work on my arcade style driving machine with PS3 player. Was looking as something more arcade like for my kids. Probably works fine with hand controls, but that wasn't why we bought it, so the 2 stars is for lack of compatability.

I've never been a fan of video games and even as an adult I don't like them but I love how my 2 yr old nephew and 9 yr old niece play with this game. There aren't more than a handful of kid oriented PS3 games for young children. They need to make more! I love the fact that my 2 yr old nephew can mess up and turn the wrong way and the game automatically corrects his direction and even though he always comes in last he thinks he's won lol. This game is aimed for YOUNG CHILDREN not adults. I've seen many reviews online giving this particular game a bad grade. Okay folks it's not meant to challenge us old folk....it's for the kiddies and they love it!

This game is a blast. I got it to pass the time babysitting my nephew and we ended up playing together for 2 hours. I spent a few more hours on my own and got the platinum trophy for it as it was enjoyable to play.The characters tag lines get a little old after a while but the game itself has a lot of replay value. My nephew is already bugging his dad to come back over and play more, he loves the movie.Anyway its a great game at a great price used on amazon.

The kids love the Cars racing game, it really is a fun one. Recommend it for anyone who likes racing games.
