Retains Razor Edge
I have a bunch of kitchen knives, but this one is my favorite by far. I've been using it every day for a month and it's still as razor sharp as the day I got it. I sharpen my other knives every week but I haven't sharpened this one yet in spite of the fact that I use it the most.

Only a little better than the one I just got rid of, and twice the price, just okay
This knife is nothing to write home about. Yes it's better than the one I just had to get rid of, but honestly not by as much as I had been expecting . And supposedly you can't sharpen this type of knife with a regular sharpener?!I honestly wish I hadn't picked this. It's fine for a knife and works like it should, but for the price I expected something razor sharp that would last forever.I'm going back to cheaper knives that are dishwasher safe and that I won't feel guilty throwing them away. Since my current set of 8 knives only cost double this one knife and all but one has lasted almost 30 years I really can't recommend this knife.

A nice chinese made knife
I am some type of knives afficionado. I like to use them in my kitchen, I like sharp knives so I can prepare my foods to cook with minimal efforts and I even manually sharpen my knives.I have taken a fancy with Dalstrong knives and I own many of them. I am mentioning this brand because it is also mentioned on the description page, as if those brands were made by the same company (I could not find any info about this). Both brands are manufacturing their knives in Shenzhen China with foreign steels (Japanese in this case) and using the Damascus folding technology. In any case, the knife looked good enough and of a type I do not yet own to make it want to review it.So onto the review. Here is what I like about it:- Beautiful knife- Extremely sharp out of the box.- If the quality is equal to Dalstrong, it will be a wonderful knife.- Reasonable price for the quality- Dalstrong quality customer support (?)Here is what I like less:- Sheath is lacking with a sharp knife like this. I am loathe to leave the blade uncovered when not using it.In conclusion:I have no issue with the made in china since I believe great quality can be produced over there like any other country. I do not really care either if it is true of fake Damascus as long as the quality remains good. For what it is worth, Damascus folding process was much more important when steel quality was hard to get. Nowadays, excellent steel quality is easy to find and it makes the Damascus folding pattern just good for looks but not really useful.4 stars.

Knife broke in half
Very disappointing. Very heavy knife, hard to hold and manage. So heavy it wouldn't stick to our magnetic knife holder. And then after 6 months of very casual use it broke in half! Save your money and look for another knife.

Weel worth the price.
I have a variety of high end knives so this knife ranks up there with them. Quality made, very sharp and a wee heavy on the handle side, still a wonderful knife for the price. The sun pattern helps release sliced product. Used for normal food preparation in my kitchen.

Great Value
Great price for a sushi knife. Extremely sharp!!! We've used this several times since SIP and it works phenomenal.

What am I missing?
I'm shocked this received so many positive reviews...I downright dislike this knife! My go-to for years was a Wustof but then I switched to a no-name that I adore so it's not like I'm a knife snob. I'm more than happy to give credit where it is due - and this isn't. It's quite ordinary -in fact, I'd say that is a generous assessment. It comes boxed which is nice but has a poor tang. Entirely underwhelmed.

Beautiful and Useful
I was unfamiliar with Wallop knives, but took a chance on this one. In the end, I certainly did not regret the decision to get one of these knives! The knife arrived in a sturdy presentation box within a cardboard sleeve bearing Wallop's growling bear logo (see photo). Upon opening the box, the knife was sheathed in a clear plastic cover with a thick plastic guard on the blade. Right away, it was apparent this knife was well-made and appeared expensive. I almost didn't want to use the knife, as it was so beautiful! Just so you know, this knife was made of Japanese steel in a Chinese factory. However, the excellent quality showed through. The knife had a good weight to it, which helped the very sharp blade to cut efficiently and cleanly. After the first several uses, I carefully inspected the knife, and did not notice any excessive wear-and tear. I do wish a nice quality sheath had been included, so I could feel more comfortable with this in my cutlery drawer. (I am afraid I will cut myself accidentally, with unsheathed knives in the drawer; I have a talent for freak self-injuries.)Besides the lack of a permanent sheath, I could find no fault in the knife. It would make a wonderful gift for yourself or someone else. I highly recommend it!
