Very into this device!
I bought my new Kindle two days ago after deciding I needed to consolidate my book collection into a device that would be more comfortable to read after my husband goes to sleep (I love the dark mode!!). It was delivered same day which was super convenient. I immediately took advantage of the Unlimited free trial and blew through a 400 page book in 2 days-- partially attribution to the ease of using this the Kindle. The Kindle is super light and really small, so I was really surprised when the font was super easy to read. It was so comfortable to hold in bed while I laid on my side too, as I do most of my reading before bed. The color is super cute as well-- the only drawback is that I couldn't afford a higher end version that I Imagine would be in color and a bit most seamless in scrolling. Sometimes it takes a minute to load the settings and other pages, but when I'm actually reading a book, it swipes through pages super quickly.

Excellent, lightweight upgrade to kindle!
I have the earliest kindle fire, and it still works, but it’s losing its ability to hold a charge. I haven’t even considered replacing it, because I only use it when traveling, but I broke my arm two weeks ago, and find that the kindle is much easier to manage than the stack of hardcover books on my desk (I have arthritis in my wrists, anyway).I use a triangular pillow to hold books or my kindle, because both are too heavy for long reads. So, I landed on the basic kindle because I am most concerned with weight. I didn’t buy the cover, either, because weight. This little effer is lighter than my iPhone 16 pro! It’s really easy to read in daylight or at night, and I can hold it in my good hand without fatigue. Daytime glare is virtually nonexistent. I bought a little silicone handle for the back of it, but a pop-socket would work.I love it. Its compact size fits in my smallest, flattest crossbody, and it adds no weight. I feel like I can read anywhere again. I am hopeful that it is the thing I needed to get back to reading more.

Awesome Kindle!
My previous kindle was from 2013, so after over 10 years, the battery is not lasting as long as it used to. I love it though, and decided I wanted the basic kindle model again. This new 2024 model is exactly that, with some great upgrades. The light is fantastic, as my previous one didn’t have it. It’s slightly smaller, and even with the case weighs about the same as my very old model. I love the keyboard function and the touchscreen is just as responsive as I would expect. The screen seems clearer and sharper than my old one, but still has that paper feel when I’m reading. I have a kindle fire as well, but I always came back to my basic kindle, and this one is a fantastic upgrade. I highly recommend it if you want just an e-reader.

Amazing product!
I love paper books but it sure is hard to beat being able to carry a library in your pocket! The battery life is incredible, much better than my previous Kindle, which could be due to the fact that it's 6 years old. Amazing product, I've used the kindle for years and decided to upgrade to the 11th gen version. Easy to navigate and has a huge selection of books. I can't say enough good things about this product, I absolutely love it. The only con is that it's unresponsive at times and requires a reboot every now and then but that's no big deal. It is very lightweight and comfortable to hold, much lighter than a lot of paper books I've read. I highly recommend the Amazon Kindle and will be purchasing them for as long as they are available to buy.

Love the Kindle basic, but there can be some frustrating issues.
My experience with purchasing the Kindle basic has been one of the most frustrating I’ve ever had. I had a 15% off coupon for a Kindle so I decided to get one. My Kindle arrived and I was so excited. I immediately loved it! However, I had issues with the cases and wound up having to repeatedly order to get the right case. After that frustration, I started noticing faint vertical lines on some of the ad pages. I got concerned that there was something wrong with my Kindle. I contacted Amazon several times throughout this experience. Some reps suggested that I pay to have the ads removed to avoid seeing the lines. Others suggested returning/exchanging. I, personally, do not mind the ads so I was not willing to pay to have them removed to avoid seeing the lines. I didn’t find that fair, at all.I decided to repurchase another one and realized the 15% coupon I used would not apply, even if I returned the original. One agent did say I could be refunded the amount of the discount once the new one arrived. Others said I was pretty much out of luck on that. I did not want to do an exchange after reading other reviewers saying Amazon sends a refurbished unit if you do that. I did not pay for a new Kindle to wind up with a refurbished Kindle. This started the process of buying and returning multiple Kindles. I worried I would get banned for buying and returning so many Kindles (and cases with that whole fiasco of being sent the wrong one repeatedly), but an agent I spoke with said it’s completely fine to do that until I get one I like. I absolutely hated the entire process of buying, testing, and returning… I don’t recommend it. I’ve read about others who have also had to do this for various reasons and it’s pretty awful. It was extremely stressful and made me want to stop buying from Amazon with so many issues (wrong/defective/used items sent as well as items not being shipped/delivered on time, even as a Prime member).Anyway, the ones I received had much less obvious lines on the ad pages (you really had to look for them), but the page turns were much “flashier” and it had more ghosting. I realized the ones with the “flashy” page turns/more ghosting looked different on the back (just a serial number) while the original with better page turns and less ghosting (but more obvious vertical lines) had more info stamped on the back. I wonder if this means different manufacturers are producing these and have different issues. In the end, I think I’m going to have to stick to the original as I dislike the flashy page turns/ghosting more than the vertical lines on the ad pages. If I didn’t absolutely love everything else about the Kindle basic, I would just return it and give up. The size is the main thing that makes me want to keep it. I have small hands/wrists that get sore after awhile when holding something too large/heavy. While I like the Kindle Paperwhite (I have one), it is less comfortable to hold, especially for longer periods of time.I do wish the basic had the warm light option like the Paperwhite does. I know that is a dealbreaker for many, but so far I am doing fine with it the way it is… although I do think it’s a flaw. I know I sound pretty negative about the basic, but the frustration from the whole experience has probably tainted my review. I will say if you get a good one from the start, you will be very happy.
