A fantastic low cost variable wattage soldering station.

I've been using this product for a few months now at different temperatures. It's been doing great. It heats fast, has no trouble maintaining the heat - even when I'm doing alot of desoldering and working with large heat sinks. I purchased an additional set of tips for it: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FYY64MX - Although I haven't tried all of the tips yet, the ones I have tried went into the wand just fine and had no issues with the unit. I've ordered an additional wand for it as well. It's one of the best variable wattage irons I've owned!I've performed cell phone repair work with this iron without any issues! If you're still using a fixed wattage plug in and wait for it to heat and then have to wait for it to regain heat as you work; go ahead and purchase this unit. you will not be disappointed.Update 04-14-2020I've continued soldering all kinds of things with this iron. The extra wand works perfectly as do the extra tips I've purchased. I haven't run into a single problem with this kit. I've used it for long periods of time soldering practically non stop and it's maintained the heat just fine each and every single time. I do recommend at this point, purchasing more than one if you do a lot of soldering so that you can swap to the other tip you need to use, without shutting one down, and waiting a few minutes to change the tip. Or, shutting down to change out the extra wand if you purchase one. I do recommend doing that; they are very inexpensive and having extras is good in the event yours fails for some reason.I purchased several tips for it. It's still going strong on the ones it shipped with. :) I've observed no pitting or other issues and I've got months of runtime on one particular wedge tip; no issues. This is by far one of the best tools I've purchased in a very long time.

Works great, heats fast, temperature calibration is pretty accurate.

So far it's working perfectly. It's important to note that with these "clone" T12 tips you have to "break them In" the first time you use them. You do that by starting at the lowest temperature and SLOWLY raising it until you get to 350 or so. Let it linger a bit on each step. After I did that the factory temperature calibration was just about perfect. The handle feels high quality and it never got warm to the touch. It's important to note that with a direct heat iron like this you don't need as much heat as you do with a traditional iron. Start around 250 Degrees C and increase if you need to. This will make it last longer and also prevent damage to whatever you are working on. It's also much more comfortable to use. Be careful pushing in the dial (it is a button) as by default it will immediately jump to 400 degrees C if you press and immediately release (which is crazy hot). You can change what it does in the menu. I changed it so that when I press it in it goes to sleep and that works for me.

Works very well.

This works well. A few things, it doesn't have presets for the various tip types, so apparently you need to be aware that the tip temp may vary for each tip model. More expensive units have the option to choose the model of the tip you inserted and they can apparently better ensure the temp is what it is set at. The other thing I really have to say about the unit is that while otherwise well assembled, and a nice solid unit, the All Metal Chassis is not grounded. The only part of this unit that was wired to the earth ground of the power cord is the solder tip itself, with a single wire going directly to it from the ground terminal on the 3 pin socket in the back. If something goes wrong inside the unit, it would be possible for the Main AC to contact the metal case, cases like that are generally grounded that way if that happens they will cause the braker to trip preventing the possibility. Yes the chassis is now grounded on my unit. It is good to note that the iron tip is grounded as well, this has to do with ESD safety, and I don't know why anyone would try to solder powered on electronics, but if you tried to, you would short that point directly to ground. I so really like this iron, and I would buy another, again grounding the chassis before using it.

22 months later and still working perfectly!

Received my iron in a nicely padded envelope. Unit itself came in a factory packaged box with nice padding. Everything in perfect condition !Powered up quickly and set up was easy enough to follow. Everything looks good so far, will do test soldering and see how well this little unit compares to my 8 yr old HAKKO 936. Already impressed with the t12nd tips. Really like what I'm seeing so far.June 8,2019I’ve been putting this iron through it’s paces nearly every day over the last few weeks with many different settings and it hasn’t missed a beat. If you’re on the fence about which T12 iron to buy, I highly recommend you give this one a try.September 4,2020Update: Over the past 2 months I’ve been using this unit nearly every day for 2-3 hours straight each time and still working flawlessly!September 1, 2022Update- this little work horse still gets used regularly and hasn’t missed a beat!! Only thing I need to do is remember to replace the button battery inside that powers the time and date display.
