Does what it's intended
I've been using Amcrest POE splitters for years. They work well but are much too fragile, one small thunder storm and they'll blow out. Anyway, they were getting difficult to find, but by chance I discovered this splitter. I got one to see if it would work and it did. It's smaller in size than the Amcrest which is a good thing. I'm happy with this purchase, and all that remains is to determine its durability. If it is, I plan to buy several more. So far, an excellent product.

Very Impressed!
[WT-AF-5v10w 802.3af PoE Splitter With 5 Volts Output]Needed a direct power solution (no adapters, etc.) for an Axis camera that was not PoE.I did not want to use passive injection and have to worry about supplying different voltages at the source. This product was the perfect solution and the quality is obvious, as well.I'm no novice when it comes to electronics and/or networking (35 year EE/CompE) and it's amazing how many people don't know what they're buying and the sellers take advantage of that. MANY, if not most, of the "802.3af compliant" injectors I have seen are actually PASSIVE injectors, which, by definition, are NOT 802.3af compliant. It's also a good way for a neophyte to ruin their equipment since there is no standard. They also use the correct term "compatible" but never explain that is not the same as "compliant."In any event, this is a truly compliant device that negotiates Mode A/B PoE (Ver. 5) from the power sending device and then Buck converts it to 5V, 2000mA.This could never be done with a linear regulator with a passive 48V injection. Even with 12V passive injection, as much power would be dropped in the regulator as in the device and that just won't work.

Easy to use and reliable
Quick setup and easy to use. I used this to wire up my Foscam 8910 http://amzn.to/28Sumg8 camera, which is not a POE camera (it requires DC power) so that I could mount it on the ceiling where there is no power outlet. Be aware that you'll need the ability to 'power' the other end of the network cable being fed into the device, either with an injector or a POE switch. I paired this with the TP Link switch http://amzn.to/28THRgO and it works perfectly. I've had my camera up and running for 3 months without any issues. Just ordered a second one for use with another camera.

Works for Amcrest, but PS tip longer
I am using this to power Amcrest IP cameras and works great. For Amcrest users be advised that this product out of the box has a male power adapter that's tip is about twice as long as the tip Amcrest uses so it will hang out a bit. I dont really want to use an add on adapter; maybe a shorter tip model is or will be available?
