Excellent
I am so pleased I bought this Benewy external CD/DVD drive. The cable could have been longer but overall it does the job it was supposed to do. The USB connectivity was brilliant and the burn speed was great. the compatibility with my new Windows 11 was perfect.

Works well with Mac Mini
I bought this so that I could get files from a DVD onto my Mac Mini. This does the job, plugging into the USB C socket on the front of the computer. The drive is ‘plug-and-play’ so no software to install. My Mac Mini sits neatly on top of the drive.

Plug & Play
Works straight from the box, but as with all of these the lead is a little short, but it does tick back into the case making portability simple. longer leads id required, (for using with a desk top etc.) are inexpensive and readly available.

Worked Ok Until DVD Burning Was Needed
From first use this cd / dvd reader / writer worked perfectly reading cds and dvds and even writing a music cd (still working 3 months on) the 3 stars it due to it not being that portable. I found using the standard usb port it would not allow me to burn a dvd on any pc or laptop however once i plugged it in via usb-c the dvd burner was then functional. As such im limited to what devices have a usb-c port, i tried a usb-c to usb adapter but this didnt work so im presuming its to do with power to the device. All my normal usbs are atleast usb 3 so its not that. Read speed is 16x, write speed for dvd is 8x.

Garbage
Well you pay for cheap garbage you get cheap garbage. It can't even rip a single CD properly. Will power off randomly, despite still being connected the PC, trapping your disc inside. When you eventually get the disc out it is scratched to hell and unusable. Ruined so many discs. Avoid like the plague.

Good Player
Needed a CD/DVD drive as the new computer didn't have an integrated unit. Tried another make and experienced a few problems with reading disks so purchased this one..This compact unit fitted the bill at a reasonable price. Plug and Play worked perfectly and the drive was immediately recognised by Windows.Software disks and DVD films play with no problems. Nice to have the choice of USB3 and Type C which gives some flexibility in connection.
