Jus buy it, this is the best enclosure hands down.
I run a computer repair shop and use these to make backup drives for clients. These are hands down the best enclosures I have ever used. Not only are they stylish, but with versatile connectivity, they have clever cables with a built-in adapter to use both USB C and A and it's nested, not some cheap glued-on to the cable hanging loose. Having both C and A USB is a big deal and more vendors need to adopt that connector strategy. I cable power like most others.Tooless just slides open, slide in a drive and slide it closed, done, that's it, tolerance is exceptional. On others, I needed to fiddle with getting the drive to fit in as well as getting the cover back on. They were just made cheap. This is quick and easy.Out of the countless I have purchased and sold I have zero failures others I always get a few duds I need to toss out.

Easy, no tools installation. Works great.
Got this to add an external SSD to an HP All-In-One that only has one HDD drive bay - which has been upgraded to a SSD. I'm mainly using it for Quickbooks Desktop backups. I tried using a thumb drive but QB would literally take 10 minutes or more to "finalize" the backup and fininsh, allowing use of the QB software again. Everything worked fine but I have no idea why the delay. It would get to about 90% and just lag. So I plugged in an extra SSD from an old laptop into a HDD utility box that uses a power chord and cables to connect an uninstalled HDD or SSD to a USB port. It worked fine with QB backup so I bought this case to make the connection less messy and more permanent. The case is very basic with a sliding cover and internal SATA connection. It's a tight fit for the SSD but that keeps it from moving around. It comes with 2 felt pads that you can install on the cover to hold the SSD more firmly in place but I decided not to use them. One pad is 1.5mm thick and the other is 3mm.The chord has both a USB-A and USB-C convertible end - the USB-C plugs in to the USB-A, or you can use the USB-C by itself. I'm using the USB-A connection. After installation and plugging it into a USB port the unit powers on and is immediately available for use.The instructions say to initialize and partition the SSD before use if brand new, but mine was already set to go. I need a magnifying glass to read the instructions, but they are clear and easily followed. It says after 10 minutes the device goes into "smart sleep mode" and powers down the SSD to save energy and preserve the life of the SSD. I'm not sure if this actually happens on my system because the power light stays lit on the box continually.Overall this is a sturdy case that firmly holds the SSD in place and functions well when plugged in to the USB port. Recommended.

Perfect!
Great enclosure, but tricky to closeThe BENFEI 2.5 Inch SATA to USB Tool-Free External Hard Drive Enclosure works really well overall. Setup was a breeze — true to its "tool-free" claim, installation is quick and easy, and it supports both USB Type-C and Type-A, which adds flexibility. Transfer speeds are fast, especially with an SSD thanks to UASP and SATA III support. My only issue is that the enclosure is a bit difficult to close once the drive is inserted. It takes some force and doesn’t always align perfectly on the first try. That aside, it’s a solid, affordable option for anyone needing an external SSD enclosure.Would definitely recommend — just be patient when sealing it shut!

Just What I Needed!
Perfect! My laptop stopped working and would not power on. My last backup from January 2025, I had a casing and it did not work or power on. I ordered this, not100% sure this would work. I am thankful that it did. I plugged my hard drive from my laptop, plugged it in and YES! All my data was there. I then backed it up to my regular backup drive: 3 hours worth of data. The only thing was I was not able to see the stuff on the C partition to get my PST files for email and my fonts, but I believe the PST files were in my data file folder. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! GOOD PRICE!

Love this SATA adapter!
Love this SATA adapter! My 1TB Crucial Internal SATA drive fit right in. The dual USB-A/USB-C connector is very nice and I no longer have to go looking foir my USB-A to USC-C adapter cable. And I also really like the little indicator light that shows me the drive is connected to my Macbook/working.

Just what I needed
I recently retired my old laptop and replaced it with a new one. In the old one I had a fairly recent 0.5TB SSD that I still wanted to use with the new PC. This device solves the problem. Simply plug the SSD into the slot, close the cover, and plug it in. As simple as that, your internal SSD is now an external SSD. It even comes with little adhesive pads to isolate the drive from vibration and shock. For nine bucks, this was a great buy.
