half neck brace for plane travel
this is effectively a clone of the well-reviewed Trtl, which is a Nymag Strategist top pick, among other things. i don't own a Trtl; this is my first foray into this type of travel neck pillow design. however, a quick glance at both products leads me to believe that they're likely clones. this neck pillow also has a flexible plastic brace which relieves the pressure between your head and neck as you rest it on the side of the brace. since the fleece (a single layer of soft, fluffy fleece) wraps around and Velcros to your neck, you have to decide which side of your neck you'd like to rest your head before positioning it. will your head flop to the other side? not likely, not that you should wrap this so tightly as to forbid the possibility. is it good long-term? well, lateral stretching of your neck will stretch the opposing side's scalene neck muscles which is nice for the body on a good day. will they stress out your other side? good question. there's a reason why aside from in airplanes, this isn't a chiropractor-recommended sleeping strategy. so consider that accordingly. i enjoy the ability to have this to try out but am unsure whether it's a long-term strategy for me. aside from the plastic insert, the fleece is predictably machine washable with a recommended air dry. for those who like this type of design, it might be a little cheaper than the Trtl if the latter is not on sale, in which case perhaps go for this one instead. if not, back to the donut travel pillows.

Not sure about a plane yet
I've tried this when around the house in preparation for a plane ride at the end of the summer. I have it figured out, as it doesn't really come with any instructions on how to wrap it. Basically, it has one side with a plate in it that you lean your head against...kind of like leaning on a wall, then you wrap the scarf snugly around your neck/lower head. Not too tightly obviously. It is comfortable, I didn't feel too hot or constricted while sitting in my chair trying to simulate an airline seat. I fully believe it will work. We are going to spritz it with some lavender to help with some relaxing, other than that it seems like a solid product.

Easy to Use
I am looking forward to using PURAVA Turtle Neck Pillow on my long economy flight to Europe. It is soft, lightweight and easy to use. It is made of fleece, so maybe warm for some people. I freeze on planes, so this will actually help keep me warm. I find it is so much better than the traditional neck pillow. It is flexible, but supportive. It also rolls up fairly small, which is great if you are doing a lot of traveling and have limited luggage space. Basically, it is a fleece scarf with Velcro closures. The neck support is a flexible plastic frame padded in a thin layer of foam. It is also washable. No more waking up when my head starts to bob!

Compact light weight
Just sitting around the house in it because i haven't been anywhere yet. Seems like it will be comfortable but it's also going to be really warm. That may or may not be a issue. From velcro to velcro it's about 24 in. Whole thing is about 28in long. I have a fair amount of double chin goin on and had plenty of room to secure the velcro. It's very light weight and compact... not sure I'd want to hang it on my bag like the regular neck pillow but it is small enough i believe it will fit in my bag no problem.

It’ll help
As someone who really struggles to sleep on airplanes or in cars, I really appreciate the ingenuity of new products like this. I was doubtful it would really support my head in a comfortable position, but it has promise. I tried it on and it’s definitely better than the typical neck pillows. I haven’t traveled with it yet, so we will see.

A very cheap version of the real one
It is poorly made and doesn't offer any true support. The "cushion" is very thin and you can feel the plastic through it. It's also difficult to wrap this around your head just using velcro

Skeptical, but it works
I've seen these before and I've been skeptical, but they generally have good reviews. I decided to try one out! It's surprisingly comfortable, especially for situations where you don't have anything to lean on. I'm a little concerned about neck pain if used for a longer period. I'll definitely be trying it on my next trip! It's light weight and small to throw in my bag.
