Overstimulated Narcoleptic Isn't Raging Out at an Overhead Fan Anymore
I'm narcoleptic and have a lot of comorbidities that align with ADHD.I am overstimulated primarily by noise - even concerts aren't enjoyable to me unless I know exactly what songs are coming or am very familiar with the voice of whomever is singing. There's a huge vent fan at the clinic I work at (so we don't all breathe in anesthetic gas and pass out, whoops) that just drones all day. Sometimes it doesn't bother me, but as soon as everything gets loud - dogs barking, people talking loudly and laughing - or I get stressed out, the noise of the fan overstimulates me. I've had outbursts and have even cried because of the dang thing.I found out about the Loops on a Youtube Short by and ADHD channel, and I had to try them.I chose the Engage one so I can use them at work without having actual headphones in.- No one noticed these in my ears unless they were standing over my shoulder and my hair was up.- I can hear people talking directly to me, albeit a bit muffled. But their voice is clear and I don't raise my voice thinking they can't hear me.- I can hear noises around me very muffled. I'm still aware of people talking nearby but unless I focus on it I don't really notice it. This is vital for my job because I need to be able to hear if a client is complaining at the front desk (my station is about 15 feet from the lobby), talk on the phone to cliients, and listen to nearby animals (i.e. the sound of a dog reactive dog growling and barking). There are a lot of options for the earbud tips that I'm still fiddling with. If I put in one a little too large it creates a suction in my ear that is mildly uncomfortable and I actually worried that if I didn't pull it out just right I might bust my ear drum. I had the silencer piece (or whatever it's called) in, which I think was part of it. When I have the Medium thinner earbud tips in with the silenver, it doesn't feel that way and still drowns out a lot of noise, so it's just about making sure I fit them properly.I'm hoping the irridescent onces come back, and I'm probably going to get the other types eventually so that I can have a variety for different situations.

Work as advertised, but may be a pain in the ear
Work well, but like others have said, the hard plastic circle start to hurt after wearing them for a while. The mutes do work as advertised. If I had to go back, I’d probably buy a different/cheaper pair.

Overwhelmed no longer
Edit: the first review was August 1, 2023. Today is December 4, 2023. I have been using the earplugs almost daily and for many many hours each day. I frequently sleep in my Quiet Loop ear plugs and during the day I use the other ones that come with the mutes. I have not had a SINGLE ear infection. Not one! I continue to use my AirPods Pro, but only for a few hours each week. I didn’t realize how much time had already passed since I got my Loop ear plugs. They feel brand new. I keep washing them, wearing them, and carrying them everywhere with me in their little case. If my house burned down today and I had to replace everything, these ear plugs would absolutely be the first things I would buy…then clothes and other necessities.I have fairly severe noise sensitivity *and* I have a large family. It took me a while to understand that when I got grouchy and snippy, it was frequently right after I was exposed to a lot of noise from my loving and fun family. We have musicians and toddlers. We have story tellers and TV. There is ALWAYS noise, and it’s usually LOUD.I need to care for my 2 kids under age 4 and be able to listen to the conversations around me.These ear plugs have been heaven. When *half* of my family is home, I usually take out the mutes and put them in the tiny little case that came with the LOOPS ear plugs. When *all* of my family is home, I leave the mutes in.I used to use my AirPods Pro all the time because of the noise cancellation. I got frequent ear infections-one that required a multiple-day hospitalization, and my toddlers like to grab them out of my ears. This is NOT the case with my LOOPS. I have had NO ear infections, and when my kids notice them, they can’t get them out easily! I clean them just as frequently as I do my AirPods, but that’s because I’m still terrified of another ear infection.Would I recommend these to others? ABSOLUTELY!! If you *need* sound, just less of it, the LOOPS ear plugs are well worth the money. Also: they are super comfortable with the right size attached. I thought I had it right, but my ears hurt after use. I switched to a smaller size, and now they are perfect!!
