How Ulf Beats Black: Ulf Andersson's Bulletproof Strategic Repertoire for White

How to improve our understanding of chess
Most of us spend our chess study time on the openings. The reasoning being that if we lose the game in the opening there is no need to study endgames. Yet when the author of an opening book declares a position equal, the unstated assumption is that everyone is equally skilled in the endgame. Nothing can be further from the truth. The greatest players consistently outplay their opponents in the endgame. Carlsen is the best example. This book illustrates the connection between the opening to middlegame to the endgame. The purpose of the opening according to Carlsen is to achieve a playable middlegame. This book is highly recommended.

Repertorio + Estrategia + Finales
Un libro muy completo para quien quiera estudiar un repertorio estratégico y al mismo tiempo hacer un estudio de finales. Acompañado de un texto excelente de Cyrus Lakdawala.

Next write a book on how Ulf beats white!
What a great book on positional chess. Playing through Ulf’s games with Cyrus’ clear annotation is a real treat into chess as an art form. This is one of 2 great chess books I’ve read so far this year, right along with Tiviakov’s Rock Solid Chess.
