Once Upon a Time...

Great for little ones learning about how they can change the story. Really good learning opportunities for children to make choices and feel empowered. There are 6 choices to make per page with the chance to be humorous. I didnt like that she wished for someone to marry and they are stereotyped men like popstar astronaut prince etc but i guess thats fairytales for you. My 2 yr old loves it. The pages are very strong but as my daughter is so young i do it with her so as not to ruin it

I bought this for my daughter when she was about 2 or 3 and she has always enjoyed it and the book has grown with her. She loves making her own story (I am pretty shocked by a review that gave it 1 as they thought a child wouldn't like to make their own story!). In the early days she always went for the same items because that is what she personally liked and as she grew older she started to enjoy giving the princess weird things. Now just turned 6, she uses it to read herself and gives the Princess a whole plate of food :-) I am now buying Pirate Pete Pirate Pete (Walker Surprise)  for my little boy who is about to turn 3. Another great book where the child makes decisions is "you choose" - again we have never tired of this book and now my little boy joins in too.  You Choose!

Used to help children begin to understand story structure. Children in group liked to choose each part of the story. Children really engaged with this book.

My 4yo daughter's favourite! Lovely she can choose and create her own story. Her 2yo brother likes it too so I bought a pirate one for him too.

2 year old and 4 year old take it in turns to make the story, and then we do it again changing the first turn so they get to have a go at all the pages. It's often the book of choice before bed even though it's a little shorter than usual bedtime books. It's fun.

I bought this book for my 3 year old daughter and she loves it. We have read this book over and over again and due to the play cards/characters the story for a 3 year old can change time and time again - keeping their interest and making the story very funny. I initially got this from a library and when it had to go back my daughter wanted to keep it so I went and bought one for her. Service and attention from World of Books Ltd was absolutely brilliant.
