Awkward to use, not the best support.
So: Background on why i wanted this.A while back i bought a PSTN to USB adaptor with SkypeMate so i could use a physical phone with Skype. This worked wonderfully until Microsoft happened and they got rid of the old free API'stowards the begining of them phasing this out, i started to build a backpack with a phone on it for a cosplay and decided "lets make this work"... i struggled but it was still possible to send and recieve calls through skype, so i plugged a laptop into the phone in the backpack and setup a wifi hotspot and this worked great. This year i decided i wanted to use this project again, and of course skype wasnt going to be an option. So onto the review of this VoIP adaptor that i bought thinking it would be a good replacement. Remember.. the concept goal for the whole thing for me was "Wired Phone > Internet > Phone Network" and back. I noticed that this says it works with SIP systems, i thought this was ideal because while Skype doesnt work, a year or so ago they released a skype for business plugin that works on SIP.Upon arrival, this had two major drawbacks.. a DC 12v connector (great for home and hard wiring, not so good for me.. but there are ways around this so i figured it was fine.. second issue is that the base adaptor has no wifi, so you need a USB adaptor unless you want to hard wire it. Admittedly once id done this it connected to the internet fine and all was well, unfortunately i then had waves of other issues. While being sip compatible, it only has a limited number of quick setup options for SIP services, so if the service you want to use isnt on that list you have to fight your way through the advanced setup which admittedly is hidden because its advanced but as someone who works in I.T with knowledge of networking and how the skype business system works, i was unprepared for how complicated the system would be. You have to override the obi online defaults before you can change them on the router for example. Then, once i had the sip network setup i called out and success, it worked. But on dialling into the box, it appears not to work, something which OBI support suggested is correct because they dont support skype. After two followup emails which they did not respond to explaining that i was using the skype SIP system i gave up with this.I moved onto the fallback idea of google voice, which failed because it seems i can only setup google voice if i live in america.Discovering that there is a bluetooth adaptor i then moved onto that option, the problem being that it uses the OBi200s only USB port, which means its Internet or bluetooth (and some genius decided you NEED an internet connection for the bluetooth to work). some people had mentioned that an active powered USB hub had worked for them, but this never worked for me and being active powered would not have been viable for this project anyway. This week, more than a month after project start, i learnt about the TP-Link Nano which can work as a wifi to ethernet adaptor, but upon finally getting this to work apparently the Obi200 (im assuming its just this one because the bluetooth is advertised as two way) i discover that i can dial in to the obi phone using my mobile number, but i cant then dial out. Something which ive just been told flatly by Obi Support is what theyre expecting. It also doesnt help that the only provided dial map is US, so when it WAS working i was having to prefix with 0044 for all my numbers.Id reccomend this product for anyone in the US, where the number of VoIP services are greater, or anyone with Phone Technician level knowledge who will probably be able to tweak this to work exactly how they want it. But this is not a simple device to setup, it hasnt worked for what i needed it for and it also wasnt a cheap mistake to make on a budget.Be advised, if you dont know someone who has one of these, you may want to stay away.

Works well
Used to replace my UK landline.I used the configuration details from the ukvoipforums.com to set the OBi200 for UK default settings and then added in my own tweaks based upon recommendations in that forum and also the manufacturers forums http://www.obitalk.com/forum/ . I had it working to my satisfaction within a day, would have been much less if I hadn't set up 3 incoming ITSP (Internet Telephone Service Providers) with different suppliers to handle different phone numbers. The OBi200 is very small just big enough to have room for the power plug and sockets for a phone and to connect to your internet router. It's about the size of a pack of playing cards. You will need buy a "RJ11 (US) to BT (BTS) telephone plug adaptor with ringing capacitor" if you wish to plug in a UK phone and expect that phone to ring for incoming calls. The device comes with the UK power supply and a cable to connect it to your internet router. The call quality so far has been better than my land line. The device can handle quite sophisticated phone routing and up to 4 incoming SIP phone providers and 8 outgoing SIP. One of the incoming SIP's can be replaced by GooogleVoice for people in the USA so not relevant to me.

What a fantastic bit of kit! Arrived promptly and setup in minutes.
I'm a UK user, downloaded the UK Settings File from the UK VoIP Forums and uploaded it to my device. My phones sound and operate the same as they did with BT! I also purchased the OBiWIFI accessory to go with my OBi200 so no hassle running any long and unsightly ethernet cables.Another thing I should mention is its size - it's small! Very small so it can be hidden out of sight very easily.

its perfect! If your in a adsl area then theres ...
use this with my free SIPGate number. i have a "landline" that costs me nothing and uses a cheap standard phone. saves me about £20 a month.you do obviously still require a broadband line so if yiur in a fibre area, its perfect! If your in a adsl area then theres no point as your paying for line rental anyway

very good clarity. I found it easy to set up
I have it set up with a generic SIP provider. It's working well; very good clarity. I found it easy to set up. I think I could do a lot more with it when I read through the FAQ but for what I need It's fine as I have it. I am very pleased with the device.
