Apple Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad: Bluetooth, rechargeable. Works with Mac, iPad or iPhone; British English, silver

I got this keyboard around 3 weeks ago, to replace my wired version of the same keyboard that had come with my iMac 7 years ago. That wired keyboard was still going strong, until I clumsily spilt a glass of water on it. So I began to look for the same wired keyboard.Unfortunately, Apple have discontinued the wired version in favour of this one. A little annoyed at this (as I don't see the point in a wireless keyboard when I am using a desktop computer that is always in one place) I ordered this keyboard.One of the things that Apple have altered with this keyboard is the key mechanism. In use I found this keyboard quieter to type on, and also with the change in the key mechanism, it means that the keys don't rock if you hit the key on the edge, and also there doesn't seem to be any gaps along the edges of the keys, so this means less room for dirt, dust to get in under the keys!Another thing I noticed that Apple have altered is the angle of the keyboard. This and also the new key mechanism I really like, and too be honest I prefer much more over the keyboard I used to have. Has this is a Mac keyboard, it has all the necessary keys that are needed/used on a Mac (which isn't always the case on some other Mac keyboards).Apart from the keys, there is two other things on the keyboard. Firstly there is a on/off switch on the back edge. Although you don't have to switch this keyboard off at the end of the day (the keyboard goes into a low power standby mode which uses very little battery life when the keyboard isn't getting used).This switch is useful if you know that you won't be using the keyboard for a while (when you go away on holiday for example) or if you are transporting the keyboard in bag (and you want to stop the keys getting pressed and using battery power whilst in the bag).The last thing is a Lightning port. This is used to charge the keyboard. Simply plug in the Lightning cable that comes with the keyboard (or use one you have already) and then plug into a USB port on your computer. I will point out that it is possible to use the keyboard while it's getting charged. This is extremely useful, as no one wants to be unable to use a keyboard for a few hours whilst it charges.On to battery life:Like I mentioned at the beginning of this review, I have used the keyboard for around 3 weeks. My keyboard tends to get around 4-6 hours use per day. The battery life is currently sitting at 91 percent (to check the battery life on a Mac go to the bluetooth icon on the menu bar, and click on it, then a little dropdown menu will appear, and the keyboard and battery life will show up on there). So from this, I would expect several months of use between charges (which personally I think is excellent).To sum up:There's no doubt that there are cheaper Mac keyboards around on Amazon, but after reading the reviews on them, the quality of those keyboards left a lot to be desired. Like most Apple products, this keyboard is expensive, but in my experience of Apple products, you get high quality and long life (something I can testify to with the previous Apple keyboard I owned which was still going strong after 7 years and only broke because of my own clumsiness) and as per most things you get what you pay for. This keyboard is an absolute joy to type on, it's quiet to type on, the angle is perfect, which means you get no wrist pain. If you have a Mac and are wanting the best keyboard possible for it, then this keyboard should be at the top of your list.

OK so this is expensive, and as the box from Amazon arrived I was getting ready to feel ripped off... I mean £130 for a keyboard is eye wateringly expensive right...Then you open the box, and a perfect apple slim box sits there - the all too familiar slow open as the lid fits the base of box so snugly you can't rush opening it - it just has to slowly fall as the air gets in.Then you see the absolutely stunning keyboard... they keys are so soft and perfect.. polished aluminium... If any keyboard were to be a thing of beauty this is it...There are no batteries, they are built in and charged by a thunderbolt socket - usb to thunderbolt cable included.The keys are a mid point between the new laptop keys and the old keyboard ones - the are prefect to type on - more feedback than the new style MacBook keys - and just that little bit thiner than previous keyboard.How to apple manage to make us pay well over the top with things, but still love them... grrrrr

Let’s face it . Our office laptop is not a Mac . And yet I would still want this ultra slim Apple keyboard with numeric pads . I work in finance so this is a dream come true keyboard. In the olden days we used to add separate ten keys pad for number inputs to our laptop and they cost similar to this Magic Keyboard with a hyper inflation time . Demands were high and the price went up meaning I got to forget about it . Not absolute necessity. No but easier . This Christmas I had faced this keyboard. I needed a separate keyboard. As an apple lover , I simply had to get it . However, I got to verify several points : does this really compatible with a HP laptop with Bluetooth. My office security control ? Long story cut to short , no issues ! You can simply use the included cable to connect the keyboard. Bluetooth also works with windows 10 with HP . ( just remove the cable and let them pair - HP identifies your Magic Keyboard via Bluetooth and it gives you numbers but without typing it , it pared automatically - very easy ) I am very excited. I however dare to warn some people who might be elderly. The keyboard I selected is a British keyboard but the keyboard I received is not the one - just the setting is a British keyboard- so @and # are not shown in the correct position on your keyboard. If you memorise the position by habits , no issues but I used to use french keyboard in France so my head is occasionally confused if not shown in the keyboard. I actually use three different keyboard types as trilingual for works . I was expecting to receive British keyboard but not so I got to peep my laptop keyboard settings. Just a warning ⚠️ this might not be a user friendly . Also the battery level is not shown unless you use a Mac laptop. To type figures you need to press x . There are several tricks which might make some people struggle. But apple lovers , we get used to some obstacles. I still give full marks as .. well the design is seek , light and extremely thin . You need to get used to type it- fingers are required more pressure than before with my laptop keyboard . I am hoping that this prevents pains on wrests but still early to say . I would say that Magic Keyboard is for really Apple products lovers . You can program keyboard to make shortcuts etc . A bit high tech . Children for instance might be easier with much cheaper keyboard with less complexity. But cool to have it . Yes . I love it !!

Great keyboard, yes, its expensive, but all Apple hardware is, and in this case you can say that you get your moneys worth. The keyboard is fantastic, the tactile feel of the keys is perfect, the battery life is great, I use the keyboard for 8 - 12 hours a day and I usually have to charge the battery once every 6-8 weeks.The only bugbear I have is that the keys do get a little dirty over time and they are difficult to clean, but it is a small "wrinkle" and does not detract from the superior quality of the keyboard.

Good quality, as you’d expect for the price. Shame that, unlike the original wired version, this one isn’t titled but lies flat. My previous wired one lasted around 10 years so hopefully this one will too.
