Bought this planning to free my 500+ dvds and blu-rays from their shiny disk prison and put them onto a NAS (home network access server) for easy viewing but just got an error for every disk I tried. Not sure if drive was defective or if it was a copyright issue. Vudu will do it for $2 per disk so I fail to see how it can be illegal?? I paid a lot of money for all these movies. Bought an LG drive with and external case and it works well. Returned this drive.

Product worked as advertised and I didn't experience any of the issues noted by the other two bad reviews.Had no trouble with setup, plugged it in and within two seconds windows presented a new "BD-ROM" in file explorer. This was on Windows 10 Version 1803 (OS Build 17134.191) as reported by winver which is the most current at the time of this review.As far as discs getting stuck in the drive, I've had a disc in the drive 12 times now and it's ejected it without concern each time. If this concern arises I will update this review accordingly.I am unable to comment on the playback of a Blu Ray disc because I only used it to convert titles to digital copies on Vudu however I believe the reported issue with jumpy playback was the result of a low quality computer or video card however this is pure opinion as the customer did not divulge their computer hardware specs.I'm pleased with my purchase at this time and hope this helps other customers make a more informed decision.

I've watched a movie on DVD and it worked fine. The USB cable is a fairly short, which could be a problem depending on the reach to nearby USB ports, and it's not detachable (or replaceable), but the shortness makes storage easier. It comes with a USB-A to C adapter which is nice and works fine. When inserting the disc, the clicking noise when it engages the disk initially is a little concerning but it is just unexpected and seems fine. The eject button on the back top has no give and is just a touch-sensitive area so there's no tactile feedback but it works all the same. With these caveats and the low price, I'm satisfied with my purchase for the few times I need a disc drive.

Exactly what I was looking for to add an optical drive to my new desktop and laptops. I first opted for a run-of-the-mill tray model, and what a pain that was. This unit's slot mechanism is so much better. The unit is very quiet, and after using it to convert about 15 movie disks, I can state that it runs error free.I wasn't sure how I'd like the lack of double-ended cords, but now that I've had some hands-on, I think leaving one end up to the manufacturer is a good idea.

Its a little slow, however I have not had too many issues with the drive.One flaw seems to be it will not read or write to a 100GB disk. Theinformation says it will however I have tried three brands and it willnot even see them in the drive.

This is an terrible product that eats CD’s & other disks for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I had the first one replaced and the replacement also ate my disk. Do not waste your time.

Not something you should waste your time on. Mine died 2 days after the month deadline where I could return it, so I was out in the cold. I threw it in the trash can.

it swallowed a dvd and wouldnt give it back. i had to completely dismantle the drive to rescue my dvd. i tried all the manufacturer's notes on how to free a disk, but no soap. as i was ripping open the drive, i also noticed several screws that were loose. i had used the drive only a few dozen times and it had jammed twice, but could ultimately be ejected by the host. stay away from this thing.

I bought this DVD recorder because of its slot-loading feature and reasonable price. It worked well for about 3 months, but then it quit being able to write cds or dvds. I thought this was a fluke, so I tried replacing it with another identical unit. That one quit recording after only about two weeks! So, I guess it's reasonably priced due to the use of cheap parts that break easily. Were it not for these issues, I would have given it 5 stars. Instead, I suggest you spend a bit more on a different brand. The failure of two in a row seems more than coincidental.

Defective.PROS:1. Drive is beautiful, looks a lot like the Apple DVD external writer. Not quite the same finish, machining is a little rough.2. Amazon return process is extremely efficient.CONS:Defective. Won't read blu-ray or dvd discs.Once plugged to my Mac USB 3.0 port, the drive makes sounds, like adjusting the optical lens a little... then continues... and continues... 10 minutes later still goes on. Weird. Insert a region A Blu-ray disc (Battlestar Galactica Season 2 Disc 1) and starts spinning quickly like any external dvd reader I've had, similar "turbo" sounds... them after few seconds stops and spits the disc. Several times same result. Different seasons, different discs, same spitting. Arrow Season 1 Bluray region A got same spitting treatment. DVD (Minority report movie, region 1) gets ejected after 5 seconds in. Unplugged, then plugged drive again, same results.Returning item.

Es macht seltsame Geräusche und kann DVD nicht mehr lesen. Man muß dann die DVD raus und wieder rein machen.5 das Kabel ist sehr kurz 30 cm6 das Laufwerk wurde nicht automatisch im Explorer angzeigt. Da mußte ich nachhelfen.7 an einem USB Hub - der bei mir eine unabhängige Stromversorgung hat - hat es nicht funktioniert (Unabhängig deshalb, weil sie die angeschlossnen Geräte den Strom aus dem Computer teilen müssen. Da kann es schon mal knapp werden. Eine eigene Stromversorgung verhindert dieses Problem.). Das DVD-Laufwerk 'verlangte' einen eigenen USB Port am Computer.8 Die Anleitung ist extem spartanisch und nur english. Immerhin, es werden üblich Fehler erklärt. Aber eigentlich sollten diese Fehler nicht so gravierend sein, daß man Sie in der Anleitung erklärne müßte. ich werde 20 Euro drauf legen und ein besseres Laufwerk kaufen. Das jetzige geht zurück.ACHTUNG: das gleiche Laufwerk wird unter verschiedenen Marken zu verschiedenen Preisen angeboten.

Product appeared flimsy and cheaply made. Hardwire usb connection didn't look too durable either. Instruction manual was an extremely bad translated chinese version. You think that when you market a product in North American they can find someone who speaks English well enough in mainland China to prepare a simple manual.The killer though was no generic bluray player software included. Most 3rd party bluray players range from $35.00 to $100.00 to purchase online. VLC doesn't natively play bluray without detailed complicated programable steps.

OSGEAR unable to burn successfully onto Blu-Ray discs. It would start burning onto a Blu-Ray disc, but it eventually failed part way through. Wasted two blank Blu-Ray discs. I wanted to give it zero star, but I must pick at least one star to submit this product review.
