Really great version of the game
Really great version of the game, beats the new version by Avalon Hill by a wide margin. My only complaint is that the picture shows wooden blocks which I had expected, but quickly upon opening it realized that I had gotten the plastic tokens. However, this is only a minor issue and is not really the fault of the seller. Otherwise, my version is in great shape, I even got to open the game pieces and break them apart which is something I didn't expect.

Diplomacy
This was bought for our 23 year old son as a Christmas gift. He loves to play the game with his friends. The product, although old was in very good shape. He and his friends are probably have a good time wanting to kill each other while playing "Diplomacy." Personally, I do not like to play the game.

For best results, play with 7 players
Pure diplomacy: glorious, shameful, and tactical. For best results, play with 7 players. Allow a full day. Don't trust anyone.

A Fine Game
This is a fine game, one of the very best ever conceived. It is a negotiating game, not a war game. The rules are relatively simple. There is no luck. Winning is function of how well you negotiate. The tactics, techniques and strategies required to win are, therefore, as complex and sophisticated as can be because they involve making judgments about people.

Diplomacy: A Stellar Game
Don't let one review skew your view. It's a fun game to play (provided you have the time to play it). There is a steep learning curve, but once you start, it's easy to see why this game was a favorite of some very astute people. This isn't as simply as checkers, but I would easily say it is more simple to learn and understand than chess, and best of all, there is a large community of people playing it, and it's easy to get involved.Play with smart people, and you'll find this a rewarding, if not sometimes swear-inducing game of intrigue.
