Koh-I-NoorCalligraphy Set, 2-Nib/Ink, Black/Gold (KOHS802FBC)

Maybe the previous reviewer had their standards set to high but I love this pen. I actually bought a 2nd one after I bought the first one because I lost the other nib. So when I purchased a 2nd one I put the nib that I lost on. So now I have two(2) separate pens with different nibs. I started my passion for calligraphy with this pen as a beginner and it's perfect for a beginner to learn with. Get yourself this pen set, a good calligraphy font book or google online for some, and some paper to practice and you're good to go. I think this pen set if pretty decent quality and yes the gold ring does come off whenever you unscrew it to change ink barrels and you can easily look the gold ring like I did on my 1st one but it does not hinder the use of this pen at all just a fancy accessory piece. I'd recommend this pen set for a beginner and anyone on a tight budget looking for a decent calligraphy pen.

I'm so frustrated with this! I've used calligraphy pens for many years, but they don't seem to last forever and the newer ones just seem to get worse and worse. I have used Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph pens and their quality is always excellent and thought I'd give the calligraphy pen a shot. However, it came with NO instructions or assembly diagrams. It looks pretty simple in the package, but when you open the pen, there's another piece in there!!! I have tried every possible way to make that piece and a cartridge fit...or a cartridge fit without that piece and it just doesn't work. I'm sure it is a simple operation, BUT, I'm at a loss. So, I have NO idea if it is a good pen, since I can't even use it...So far, it is a total waste of money and time.

For the price, this is an amazing fountain pen. The italic nib allows for very fancy writing, and it's quite a nice pen as well. I would highly recommend.
