Through one complete example, this book (together with the electronic version of code samples included) takes you through an entire journey for an end to end system developed in python. Effectively using the core language key features and add-on libraries. Throughout the book there are tradeoffs of the tools available, testing techniques, making debugging easier, warnings on common problems, and much more. It focuses on understanding the concepts at a practical level, giving you the “why” and “when”, not just the “how”.

I'm only halfway through, but the book seems like a great resource for people who are python experts, as well as for people who have only started working with python. Probably the best part is that the book also shows how to be a more efficient developer and how to use tools effectively. For example, I've been avoiding JupyterLab, which turned out to be an awesome tool for research and prototyping. The book is also a great reading for anyone who is interested in system design process and SDLC.Highly recommend!

The author has clearly used python in anger for many years.If you expect to use python on a regular basis then I really recommend getting this book. It will take you beyond what you will find on online tutorials or 'intro to python' style books.This will cover the day to day subtleties that make all the difference between 'taught myself python and can pick through doing bug fixes' and 'actually understands python and can lay down sensible structure for others to follow'.
