Fine for normal cups, but the metal clamps can scrape off the special coating from the handles of the "color changing" cups.
The metal clamps work fine for "normal" cups, but for those that are coated ... with the "color changing effect," you have to watch closely and take extra care to keep the metal from touching the cup handles. Sometimes, even when they're not touching at first, during the baking process, they sometimes expand just enough to touch the handles, scraping off the coating and leaving white marks.
