It was great, but you have to use less milk than what's on the instructions. It makes it too liquid-y. If you use less, it's great. The taste is great too, and it's really good with strawberries and blueberries on top!

Bland tasting, instructions need modifications for consistency
What in Pinole? Accordingly, it is a a mixture of roasted maize (purple cornmeal), cacoa and cinnamon. It was used by the Aztecs as a source of nutrition and also meal satiation. Because of its slow digestion, they were able to feel less hungry for longer periods of time. I imagine in periods of, say winter, where this would come in handy as food was more scarce. Although it says "Powerful antioxidants", it would depend on the quality of the pinole that would give it more or less high levels of nutrition. Even though it states what these antioxidants do, I cannot gage whether it has any or tons of it.The instructions says, mix 1 1/2 cups of milk with 1/2 cup of Purely Pinole in a sauce pan over low-medium heat. The milk:pinole ratio seemed off and milk does not steam off very quickly. This pinole does not seem to be absorbing the milk at a quick rate either. So I turned the heat up, hoping it will steam some of the milk and get the pinole to absorb. But still seemed a pan of milk. I then took it off the pan, maybe cooling will thicken it. This did a little, but not to the degree that you get anything close to the picture. It was like a cereal with milk. The flavor was fair. I added a little honey. The pinole itself is tasteless, but gritty. There were dried blueberries in there, but I did not notice banana. Definitely dont get any chocolate or cinnamon flavor coming through. Its not sweet, even though the package says sugar is added. Which, given that corn, milk and chocolate are all sweet, this was not a sweet food. And it made me wonder how much sugar I will ultimately digest.Overall I cannot say I am a fan of this. Its corn and they suggest adding stuff, which you will want to make it a bit more palatable. It does not dissolve well, and o making a smoothy it might be gritty as well, so I am not sure I would enjoy that much either. The ziplock-type seal does not work well.

Healthy Breakfast - Taste Is Probably Not For Everyone
I tried, but cannot get past the consistency (mush or overcooked grits) and bland taste. The ingredients are wholesome:Non-GMO Purple Maize, Vegetable Protein (Pea), Organic Blue Agave (Inulin fiber), Cane Sugar (Evaporated Cane Juice), 100% Pure Fair Trade Cacao, Allspice, Cinnamon, Rice Extract, Rice Concentrate, Sea Salt.Arguably, the anthocyanins in purple corn are a health benefit, and as far as being a healthy breakfast/meal, I would give this the nod. Taste wise I just could not get there. But taste is a personal thing. I tried to flavor it more with a little salt, sugar, berries, etc.Follow the directions and cook this slowly. Heat and bring to a boil, cook 3-5 minutes. Do not try to dump it in boiling water and boil it up in just 1-2 minutes. It is not oatmeal.I would say if you find it palatable, this is a good food to eat. I am about half way through the bag, but I can't seem to warm up to the taste.

Kinda like an Acai Bowl
Okay, so I received this and really had no clue what Pinole was... but was interested in it because I am totally in love with Acai bowls. So, what is Pinole? Pinole is a roasted ground corn, which is then mixed with a combination of cocoa, agave, cinnamon, chia seeds, vanilla, or other spices that is full of protein, powerful antioxidants, and fiber. It is an Aztec superfood known to fuel endurance and provide energy.PROS: One serving gives you 7g of fiber, 7 grams of protein (23g per bowl prepared with milk or milk substitute), and throw in a bunch of antioxidants and amino acids. So for the past few days, I’ve started my day with a 1/2 of serving of the Blueberry and Banana with some fresh cut bananas and blueberries to top it... I added organic coconut milk to the powder with some ice and spooned it from a coffee mug. It's actually quite yummy... kind of like a blueberry nut muffin with a bit of cinnamon... and very comparable to an Acai bowl. I can happily say that it makes you feel full and energized. I love that it is a plant-based product that is 100% non-gmo, gluten free, vegan, and Kosher...CONS: Despite all of this though, I am sad that it is packed with carbs and made with roasted corn- corn has lectins :(.... So, I would say eat it in moderation and treat it like a healthier dessert than ice cream.

Like fruity gritty coffee grounds
“I got it at Ross” - which was my first warning sign, but I always read enough Amazon reviews to make a snap decision, and an average of four stars gave me hope. The taste was okay, but the texture reminded me of finely ground espresso beans. I washed it down with water, but still happened upon the errant hard piece or two afterward.Unfortunately, I hadn’t read the ingredients well enough - there’s a lot of sugar in it.Even more unfortunately, it paraded through my digestive process with a vengeance, and the roasted corn, we’ll let’s say it stays roasted corn.
