The Perfect Digital Optical Splitter

This digital optical splitter works perfectly in our Dolby 5.1 audio surround sound and new sound bar system. The Visio 29" sound bar is a new addition as the big surround sound system is sometimes too much, and the LG 55 TV speakers aren't enough. To use both sound systems we needed a digital optical audio splitter so that we could run one system or the other, or both simultaneously using our digital audio signal. As Cornelius mentioned in an earlier review of this splitter, be sure to REMOVE THE SMALL PLASTIC YELLOW CAP FROM THE PIN ON THE CONNECTOR, or it will NOT fit into the output jack of your TV set. This is the only digital optical cable device I've ever purchased with a cover over the pin, not that it's a bad thing, but just a nuisance if you're not aware of it. Once the cap is off everything goes together very easily and the result is truly awesome sound in one or both systems. An excellent product.

Works as advertised.

I use this for sending one Toslink source (first a Startech BT2A Bluetooth receiver, then moved to a Sony DVD player) to both a Yamaha AV receiver and separate DAC (TEC TC-7510) feeding my headphone amp. I haven't tried it in reverse, to share one input between two sources, but since it's a purely passive device that may work, so long as only one source is powered on at a time.As with any passive splitter, the amount of light to the downstream components is at best halved, and Toslink's "fat light pipe" design is kind of marginal to begin with (compared to real communications-grade fiber) so try to keep cable lengths as short as possible, and avoid sharp bends. Two three-foot cables worked for me - actually one of the two signals was intermittent at first, but that turned out to be some dust in one of the connectors, and cleared up after cleaning.Everything is made of cheap-feeling plastic, but of course the light doesn't care, and connections fit snugly.

Not the best but worth it for sure

It works good except it's a snug fit so my worries is over time that might cause issues being disconnected over and over. I havent experienced both yet as my other cord I ordered from Amazon is being replaced due to a odd short in the cord.

Did not work. May attenuate signal too much.

Did not work. Seems to pass visible signal, but the optical attenuation may be too great for the sound bar and 5.1 decoder used. Others have reported failure to work and made puns on the seller's name, but before echoing these I will try an amplified splitter and see. UPDATE: Just got an amplified splitter and it worked fine in my application, so If you want to avoid grief, I suggest another seller or play it safe and go for an amplified splitter as until the industry devises signal strength standards for the consumer, there's no way to determine in advance if the optical signal levels are above threshold for a given device. In my case the input and output cables were only 6 foot and should have tolerated the passive splitter's loss.

WORKS GREAT..

WORKS GREAT ...READ ALL THE WAY IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES !!! HI all I didn't read the reviews before I bought this thing . Once I got the product I was angry cause the male end would not fit in my Tvs optical port .So I started reading reviews and saw that others had had the same issue . I almost threw it in the trash. THEN I PULLED THE LITTLE YELLOW PROTECTIVE TIP OFF AND IT FIT JUST FINE .. I felt like a idiot .This product is a great inexpensiveness . Maybe needs instuctions for a dumby like me ....Ps others in this feed my have a different problem mine was all my fault

Design flaw?

This splitter works properly for my use. (Splitting an audio signal from a tv to go to a soundbar setup and second to a home theater receiver). The only problem is the same as others have descibed. The male end connector does not lock into position so any movement of optical cables will like disconnect the cable, thus leading to no sound.

So perfect and so Easy!

This is a EXCELLENT product!!! I had bought one of these splitters before from another brand but it didn't work. So i read the reviews on this one and it had really good reviews. So I gave it another try. So I wanted to split my xbox one and my apple tv since they only have one optical cable input and my bose audio system has only one optical input as well...So. that was the issue. So I received it today. Plugged the Conwork to my bose audio input. Ana connected both optical wires to the Conwork. And WA-LA!!! IT WORKS PERFECTLY!!!! so, I would recommend this product to anyone with this kind of issue. Great price and great PRODUCT!!!

It worked just fine at first for weeks (with all cables and splitter quite sturdy in the connections as well, even) so I thought it was great. Recently though, I had adjusted something and had to barely move it for a moment (as in, gently lifted up what it was connected to by mere inches and put it back down), and upon turning some speakers on today, it immediately created tons of static noise, and wouldn't work with certain sound options at all anymore no matter how I tried to gently move the cable around to try and remedy the issue. The actual cables worked fine individually without being plugged into the splitter, but when plugged back in to test just to be sure, the static noise came right back with no improvements. Darn.
