Basic Information & Sample Plans, Poor Editing

The Ultimate Guide to Weight Training for Track & Field started off strong by averaging one glaring grammatical error per page for the first several pages. The editing was pretty much non-existent as the errors are incredibly obvious as I was able to find them even during my initial scanning of the text, which says something Once I was able to look past the grammatical errors, the book provides a solid foundation for weight training for the sport of track and field. If you're looking for a basic overview of lifting for track, this book will give you just that. If you want to look more in-depth to programs and want more of the science behind things, then you will be disappointed with this book, but I would suggest reading the NSCA Strength Training book by Lee Brown. For me, this book is useful when combined with other texts and resources that involve weight lifting and would be a good resource for a high school, late middle school, or club coach. College coaches should look for more detailed texts on the topic. Overall, I'm glad I bought this book. It confirmed some of what I already knew and gave me some quick references. As a college coach, I definitely am glad that I have other, more detailed, books covering the topic of strength training.

I bought it to see if it had event specific weight training ideas, in particular for high jump. Absolutely nothing. Title of book should be changed because it's misleading.
