Pignose PG-10 PG-10 a/c powered amplifier

Great little amp! Got this for my 6 yo to plug in a microphone and the sound is great.

When it arrived, upon turning it on, it made a loud farting noise. Quality control problem.I have another pig nose G40V that I love. New amp shipped immediately, was OK.Amp does NOT have a 5 inch speaker, as advertised, but does sound good

I'm a beginner bass player and tried this model out at Guitar World first. I think it's a good practice amp but somehow sounded better at the store. Although, I still think it has a good, clear sound.

Died after only 2 months of very LIGHT use. Disappointed.

This amp is exactly what I wanted: a small, portable practice amp without a lot of features. It's replacing a battery-powered Honeytone (which I reviewed earlier) that I'm glad to stop using.Played clean with my Stratocaster, it sound crisp and clear even at maximum volume. Adding a moderate amount of distortion with the bass/treble controls, it sounds pleasant enough. There is a point at which the speaker gets overpowered and it sounds pretty bad, but that only at high volume levels. I can compare this directly with the Fender Frontman 10-watt amp, which I bought for my nephew, and the Pignose wins hands down. The Fender sounds dreadful with any distortion whatsoever.What makes this, in my opinion, about the perfect practice amp for a novice like me is the fact that it's so uncomplicated. With my regular amp, a Peavey Vypyr with about three million different effects/settings, it's hard to resist the temptation to twist a few dials and go all Eddie Van Halen. That's fun, but not conducive to developing basic skills. The Pignose will keep you on the righteous path until you're ready to branch out. It's powerful enough to fill a room with pleasant sounds (at least as pleasant as you're able to produce), portable, and inexpensive. What more could you expect.
