OrtizBrown Anchovies In Olive Oil Reserva, 15 Oz

I had tried for years to find these anchovies in the US and was so thrilled to see them available through Amazon. I have loved the Ortiz anchovies that come in the small formats (rectangular cans and, especially jars) and the Serie Oro is supposed to be their top grade. However, these are the saltiest anchovies I have ever tasted, too salty to eat by themselves, and are soft and mushy enough to break apart when you pry them from the stack. Fine anchovies are supposed to be kept cool if not refrigerated to maintain their firm texture (even in cans), and I wonder if these were kept too warm such that they degraded. I foolishly bought 4 cans, and the 3 unopened cans are not eligible for return - so I now have 4 cans of really expensive (they were a splurge really) borderline inedible anchovies that I can only cook with!
