Originally I didn't find the extra battery. I just found it as it had dropped out of package. I appreciate this addition as cost of replacement batteries is more than the replacement of the whole thermometer. The instructions in the box are clear. For someone having the question about "Lo," it is an indication that the temperature attempting to be measured is below what can be recorded. "Lo" has nothing to do with the battery.

Bought this to use when my 4 month old got sick for the first time as a rectal thermometer and am very pleased with it. It was accurate on the temperature and I like how easy it is to use. Simply turn it on and let it take the temperature before it beeps. Make sure to turn it off when you are done or it'll waste the battery for 10 minutes before shutting off automatically. I loved that it came with a hard plastic case and an extra battery all for $11!The soft flex tip is a nice feature, but I use these with universal probe covers just because I use it rectally for the baby and don't want to clean it constantly. The only improvement I'd suggest is for it to take the temperature quicker because 30 seconds is a long time to wait with a squirmy baby.

I originally ordered this thermometer as a back up for a fancy forehead reader one. Turns out this one worked even better then the fancy expensive one! So I sent it back and ordered another one of these so I have 2 in the house one for the baby and one for the grown ups. They have always been reliable and accurate for readings. Great product for a great price! Great customer service and follow up too!

My thermometer came without the extra battery. Also, the indicator said "LO" which I assume is referring to the battery that has already been installed in the thermometer. Since there were absolutely no instructions, I'm just assuming that's what it means. Also tried out the 30 second timer in a very, very quiet environment and if it beeped, I certainly didn't hear it.

I was very happy to find a thermometer during these trying times. This one works great! I use it as an adult and am very happy with my purchase. It's precise and I love that it comes with an extra battery too.

I unpacked this thermometer right after receiving it and the battery inside was dead. I inserted the second one that came in the box, and that one was dead too. Now I won't be able to use and test the thermometer until I buy new batteries.

Really sweet baby thermometer. Has come in real handy lately as my friends baby is teething and has been running a slight fever. The flexible tip is soft and he likes to chew so it was safe for his little mouth and underarm area. Appreciate that it came with an extra battery, it is small so be careful not to lose it. It is the first infant thermometer I've had so I really don't have a previous one to compare it with. It is very easy to clean due to it being totally waterproof. Good price too. I looked at baby thermometers locally before buying this one and this is the best one I found for the price. Now, if it lasts a ling time, I will be even happier. If it quits works in a unreasonably short time, I most certainly will update my review.

We are expecting a new baby and it's time to replace some of our supplies from the last go around, including the baby thermometer. This one intrigued me because of the flexible tip, primarily, and I really do like that feature. It seems like it would make taking an infant's temperature rectally a little easier. I also like that the case this thermometer comes in encases the entire thing, not just the end like my old one. It comes with a replacement battery, which I must've missed in the product description, but is a nice touch. Mine was tucked in the thermometer's case, and I didn't see it at first. It actually fell to the floor when I opened the packaging, and I had to scoop it up quickly before my nearby toddler grabbed it, so beware of that since it's so tiny.So far I've tested this thermometer on myself and compared it with another I have, and the temperature reading appears consistent. This one does, however, take considerably longer than my older digital thermometer to give a reading. It does give a reading within the 30 second period as advertised, but it feels like a long time to wait (especially if you'll be using this on a squirmy baby), and over double the time it takes my older thermometer to give a reading (and way longer than my toddler's ear thermometer, which gives a result in just a few seconds every time). I'll probably still use this one because of the flexible tip, though. It seems durable and with the extra battery I think it will last a good while as well.
