Works perfectly

These things are amazing and as simple as it gets for Plug and Play. I have an old Yamaha KX5 MIDI controller (Keytar) and have always struggled with that long 100' MIDI cable. Every gig, that cable either got caught on a monitor, or someone would step on it, or it just ended up in knots. I'm a bit old school and didn't even realize that wireless MIDI was a thing. I took a chance on these X-VIVE Adapters and it worked perfectly. You will however need to purchase two units for it to work. Your Host/Source keyboard will need one set to go in to both the MIDI In and Out, the MIDI controller will need just the Main Adapter

Better than I expected - MD1 Xvive MIDI

I use all wired MIDI cables in my studio - however I have one synthesizer in particular that would require an extra long cable run if I wanted to keep the cables tidy and ran along the walls. I didn't know what to expect when I found this wireless MIDI option on amazon, but it looked like it would solve my long cable problem provided the device worked reliably. I have been using the MD1 Xvive Midi for a couple months now and I am very impressed. The device has worked very consistently and has never glitched or dropped out on me. I'm not sure what the range of these units are (my guess is comparable to Blue Tooth) but I haven't had to test that as my studio is rather small and the MD1 is only about 10 feet away from the other device. I can't speak to the long-term reliability or build quality but so far I am pleased. I would recommend this product.

Works, but SYSEX does not send successfully

This MIDI interface works fine, low latency, easy to connect. However when using continuous controllers like expression pedals, it'll send the odd corrupted byte here and there, and it fails hard when sending/receiving SYSEX dumps. Use a real cable for SYSEX.I love that the interface is powered off the MIDI port. No charging is required, unliked other wireless MIDI devices I've bought.

It works slightly differently than I expected, but it works.

I expected it to be a transmitter for one device and a receiver for another. It's really a transmitter and receiver for ONE device. But fortunately, I was trying to connect a MIDI keyboard to my iPad and my MacBook Pro. Since each of those devices support Bluetooth, they recognize the XVive transmitter without any "MIDI In" required.I've used an Xvive wireless XLR (microphone) adapter for a few years and have been VERY happy with the performance and functionality of that, so when I was shopping for a wireless MIDI interface, I went with Xvive and I'm quite satisfied.I didn't realize I'd be able to synch up with multiple devices with this one, as long as they all support Bluetooth. So far, I've paired with an iPad and an iPhone. I'll be pairing with the Mac later on.Pro Tip: Don't use Bluetooth headphones, as they'll add an annoying delay to your audio. Wired headphones with the wireless Bluetooth MIDI gives great results. Wireless headphones with Bluetooth MIDI - not so much. But it's not the MIDI adapter's fault.

Works well but range is limited

I bought this to connect my player piano to my iPhone and PIANOSTREAM app. Installation was a cinch and connecting to Bluetooth and app was seamless. The only reason I gave it four stars is the range is pretty limited. If I move more than 15 or 20 feet from the adapter the connection is lost. Note that could be due to other electronics near it or a lot of metal in the piano so your experience may be better.

So far, so good.

I got this to use with OnSong on my iPad to control my Axe Fx III and Korg Kronos keyboard. I have it plugged into the MIDI in & out my Axe (which gives it power) and use a standard MIDI cable going out of the MIDI Thru to the MIDI in of my keyboard. So when I switch a song, it changes presets and/or parameters on the Axe and the keyboard all at once.Things will occasionally disconnect; but I don't know if it's the iPad, OnSong, midimittr (the app used to talk to the bluetooth MIDI function) or what, so I can't necessarily blame it on this dongle. If I keep having issues, I'll probably try out a different dongle, like the Yamaha one. If I get flawless performance from a different one, then I can attribute those dropouts on this dongle, and I'll update my review accordingly.

Unreliable device, poor support

UPDATE #2: When I contacted the seller for a replacement, I got a series of replies that were incorrect and confusing. The gist was that the MD1 needed a firmware upgrade. I followed the instructions and the MD1 still showed a red LED and did not work. Because it's obvious that the MD1 is simply a re-branded CME WIDI Master, I went to the CME website, where I found the correct instructions. The red LED indicated that the MD1 was in TEST mode and needed to be activated, not upgraded. I activated it and now it works. HOWEVER: It failed at a gig for no apparent reason, so I can't rely on it to keep working. Xvive online and paper documentation has no solution, and their customer service instructions were incorrect. It took several days of correspondence and several hours of my time to get it to work again. This product might be OK for a hobbyist, but it is not suitable for professional use.UPDATE: One of the MD1s recently failed (at a gig, no less). It's still under warranty. Xvive says I have to contact Amazon for a warranty replacement. Amazon says I have to contact Xvive. I contacted Xvive and am awaiting a reply. Will update this review again if I get a replacement. But the fact that the product failed within a year and Xvive offers no customer support or troubleshooting help does not inspire confidence.I got two MD1s to connect my keytar to my main keyboard (both old-school MIDI). Tried them out at home and they immediately paired and worked. Used them at a bar gig last night and was able to walk all around the joint, including into different rooms, and even out the door. Worked flawlessly the whole 4 hours. Wish I'd had the MD1 years ago. It would have saved me a lot of hassle with the M-Audio Mid-Air wireless MIDI device (pre-bluetooth), which never really worked well.
