Good quality cable!
Materials:Rubber cable.Gold plated pins.Impressions:Built-in high-performance FTDI chipset FT232 chip, allowing you to quickly connect RS422 or RS485 devices to the USB port of your laptop.Built in 600 watt surge protection and 15KV ESD isolation.Built-in zero-delay automatic transceiver, and the unique I/O circuitno IRQ and COM port conflictsThis adapter allows a normal PC to be connected to an RS485 / RS422 line. Be it to listen to / record the communication or to issue commands yourself. The adapter comes with a 1 meter long USB cable and has a D-Sub9 output. If you want to connect the adapter directly to an existing line, you can do this using the included adapter, which allows connection to a half-duplex or full-duplex connection. The included driver CD with the necessary FTDI driver for different systems (Windows, Mac, Linux etc.) was not necessary for Windows systems, because newer Windows systems (Windows 10 for me) install the necessary driver independently. The device consists of a normal FTDI FT232RL USB-UART chip with a downstream RS485 transceiver. The adapter is connected to the USB interface. The FTDI chip then simulates a serial interface and sets up a COM port on the PC. A normal terminal program is sufficient for communication. Since the housing could not be opened, a precise inspection of the internal wiring was unfortunately not possible, and galvanic isolation is definitely not carried out. However, the adapter itself works perfectly and by using branded components, driver problems are not to be expected in the future either. So there is nothing to complain about!

Very reliable and effective USB to RS422 / RS485 protocol adapter and driver
Upon waiting for a project to finish, i then had the ability to network the old relaible calibrated test gear in one of the robotic and sensor labs which was all serial configured and controlled via RS422 / RS485. I was so impressed with this adapter. It was easy to install on both the Linux (Cinamon) and Windows (10). The small CD has drivers for Mac OS, Android, and all the versions of windows back to Windows CE and 98!!!! It goes like a rocket if ya can get it to 921600bps to a range of 300m of twisted cable or slow speeds suchas 9600bps out to a massive 1.2Km. I found if you are driving a network of instruments (point to multi-point mode) it is best to put a 120R resistor 1/4W metal in the last multipoint device between T+ and T- and also between R+ and R- leads to prevent matching and cross talk error injection. The protection this adapter has is superb at 15KV for ESD 600W surge. This was easy to use and worked without any problems at all with LabView and our other lab instrumentation software of that equipments' supplier. We will definately buy more so the other 11 labs can be kitted out the same using this adapter. Highly recommend the product, Andrew

Well made Comms cable
Well produced and comes in a small hard plastic case, with Driver Disc and the cable is thick and also includes a small module that can be wired directly with loose wires to connect to its RS connector block, the other end connects via USB to be used in a control environment.Has flashing LEDs inside the clock and a detailed leaflet included to indicate the various methods of use also.

Good quality serial / USB connector set in hard plastic box
This is a very nice quality cable with usb to 9 pin serial the main cable has the male connector and there is a break out style female adapter so you can wire in a cable for that connector if needs be.The different criteria are printed on the side of the main adapter. The break out board is well labelled.Everything comes in a hard case, inside an antistatic bag and all the connector ends are protected by plastic covers. The cable itself is 2.2 meters long.Comes with a mini CDA bit pricey but worth it to enable compatability with various serial style accessories (our graphics tablet for example) to use with computers that dont have a serial port .

Excellent, worth the money
This is a simple USB to RS422/RS485 converter/adapter cable, priced at £19.99 at the time of this review. The build quality is industrial-level and feels robust. The cable, moulding and connectors are all good quality and feel solid when connected. The price might seem a bit high, but there is a convertor chip of course and the quality justifies the price, in my opinion. This will last many many years of daily use.It won’t fit ‘all’ devices of course, there are plenty which didn’t feature a 9 pin connector, so you will still need extra adaptors for those.Packaging was excellent, it came in a solid plastic case that will survive being trodden on.Overall, an excellent bit of kit.
