Altec Products, Show N Go Electric Powered License Plate Frame, Remote Control Automatic Hide License Plate

This product stopped working after only a short period of time. I went through extra steps to seal it up so the motor wouldn't get wet and die, and it didn't. The badly designed and completely exposed cable system did fail though and I was unable to get it working again. The metal that the main body is made of is very thin and extremely flimsy, it can easily see someone bending it badly during installation. If they offered me a warranty and replaced this low quality product I might change the review but right now this almost seems like a scam.

After installation, I may only have used it maybe 9 times and it completely stopped working. The motor works but the control module is out! Didn't even last 4 months.

works great !! love it just don't drive it in bad weather like snow. very fragile . don't pull it out by hand , power it up to bring the plate out and up before you place it on the car to get the right dept. i have it on my 1977 Pontiac Trans AM LOVE ITup date very delicate and will not last long.. It will bind up and not work , it needs to be more stronger on the slide bracket and the pull cable needs do be a little more stronger

I wish there were half stars. Id give this a half star. As background. I’ve been working on cars (professionally during college) and as a hobbyist since for 20 years. I picked up a new car and the dealer had the decency not to ruin my front air dam and splitter by screwing a license plate bracket right in the middle. So. Since I live in a state which annoyingly requires front plates. I immediately thought of this product. I was a little wary because there were some truly bad reviews. But also some good reviews. And I decided to give it a try. Install is annoying because you have to snake the wiring harness from the receive (mounted up near your battery) down through the front fascia of the car and through the under cladding. That’s just the way it is. But it’s time consuming fiddly work. That all went fine. I got under my car (too low for my race ramps I learned today) and wired the motor / plate-assembly to the harness and then mounted and adjusted the location of the plate assembly. And for 10 minutes I was thrilled. And then probably on the 10th try the device stopped working. I could see the receiver was still getting power (there’s a little red light) so back under the car. I discovered that the steel cable that pulls the plate under the car and pulls it back out has failed. Frayed and snapped. Never even made it out of my garage. That has to be a record of some kind. So now I spent and hour and a half on the floor of my garage for a flimsy non motorized plate bracket. At 100+USD it’s built like a crappy Chinese novelty, not a piece of quality equipment for your car. Buyer beware.

Very horrible! The instructions weren't the best, 4 hours later I have 3 holes in my Hellcat. So many many things went wrong with bad quality parts. I can't express enough how much a pain this was because nothing made sense, the inserts kept getting pushed in too much or just spinning(Yes did drill the right size.) Then messing with the bracket so much it ended up warped because I tried my best to make it work for 4 hours! I would not recommend this too anyone, in fact I want my money back.

Bought this item to be able to have the feature of not having a shown license plate but at the same time having it shown when needed. The overall Motor seems slightly flimsy and may even break down eventually. So far it is running flawlessly. The other issue I have with this item is the retraction of the license plate. It does not retract cleanly but more like the motor is struggling to wind the wire. I do not think I would recommend this item but I will use it until it eventually dies out and do more research and find a better one.

Well I loved it when I installed it... and left it in up position for the first 5 days but then flipped it to the hidden position and drove around maybe one or two days like that and upon parking in a pay lot went to flip the plate up and it was hanging by a thread... The bolt that holds the plate to the bracket broke off and luckily the plate was still hanging on... I can't think of any incident that I hit the underside of the bumper which I can now assume would break it so have no idea other than cheaply made and vibration loosened it...I wish there were replacement parts cause I'd like to give it another try but buying a whole new one is not making my day...so you decide if you want to take a chance with it... I did have to cut the bumpers rubber to allow for a gap for the tracking to slide forward and back and it did hit slightly on this rubber as the bolt passed it but I'm having a hard time believing this loosened or broke this bolt ... if it did I only operated the sliding up and down maybe 5 -6 times... 3-4 just to check operation after I installed and 1-2 actual use...
