Great little binoculars!
I'm so glad we purchased these (8x25). They are nice and bright. The focus is nice and sharp across the whole field of view. Great binoculars for bird watching or taking to the beach. They are nice and compact. My only quip might be that the strap is too nice. It's pretty wide and won't fit in the included case with the binoculars.Previously I've only had sub-$100 binoculars, I'm glad we moved up to these!

Good Value
I am not an expert on bino's but these worked well for hunting - didn't fog, allowed me to see clearly for elk and deer hunting. Strap was ok - but I removed it and replaced with a shoulder harness. Lens covers are cheap and don't stay on - lost one almost immediately.

Top Notch for Less....
These glasses are truly a good value purchase. All the best features at a much more favorable price. Will definitely purchase from the company again!

GREAT value for the money
First of all, I am not an optics expert or guru. I know you get what you pay for in life. But, I also know that not every hunting outing requires a $2000 pair of German Binocs. secondly, I am not a professional outdoorsman. I love to hunt and try to go every chance I get. But, I don't use binoculars 250 days a year. If I did, I would go for some premium glass. I hunt deer in Western Kentucky. So that means mostly wooded areas shots are usually less then 100 yards. Not much wide open turf for me. I bought the Alpen Ridge and I am quite pleased. the optics are good. I get very crisp images. they are light enough for the type of hunting I do. The 10X is about right for my geography. My 11 year old and 8 year old sons made great use of them during a few squirrel hunts and really liked being able to see the squirrels we were hunting. They were worth the purchase price to see the look on my boys faces as they got up close to the animals in the wild. One day, I will hand them down to one of my sons and get myself those Swarovski EL's.My buddy comapared my Alpen ridge glass to a pair of High end Bushnell's he had. (His cost double what my Alpens cost). In his opinion the Alpens were just a bit better than his.

great inexpensive 'pocket' pair
The first pair I received had a faulty diopter mechanism - if set for my eyes on a distant object, one eye was blurry up close, or vice versa. Amazon replaced at no charge. This second pair is a dreamy spare to carry at all times. Very compact, great eye relief (16mm) for glasses wearers for the low price compact binocs category - hard to find in the price category. They are surprisingly bright for such a small roof prism pair. The focus is also sharp for the price point. These are not Leicas, but they are enjoyable for a worry-free set. I use mid-price with a larger field of view (Pentax 10x42) for 'serious' birding.I got them for a good bit cheaper (under $100) and there were already a few other reviews, so apparently they have been freshly posted and priced. But even at the current price, I think they are a great option for no-worry pocket binocs for the pro, or beginner ones for those who feel a larger pair would inhibit their taking them along. Certainly great for sports. (Word of advice for beginners: if you are just starting out birding, you would be served better by a larger field of view such as 8x42 until you learn to aim and find small birds in natural environments.)

Expectations exceeded
In a rare show of restraint, I forced my self to go for the Alpen Shasta Ridge binoculars instead of some more expensive version made by a bigger manufacturer with wider distribution and more advertising. These are at or near to the lowest price point for entry level, high-quality 10X42 binoculars, but, in my opinion, are easily comparable if not superior to most of the analogous models made by manufacturers like Vortex, Bushnell, and others. If you want to split hairs about extremely high degrees of clarity, then you should be looking at $400+ binoculars.I bought these to hunt, watch birds, and take to baseball games, and I couldn't be more pleased. Just got back from Spring Training in Mesa, AZ, and they enhanced my experience hugely. I'm not an optics expert, but I have good vision, and these things have beyond sufficient clarity, even in low-light conditions. The fit and finish is great, the rubberized coating feels great in my hands, the camo pattern looks awesome, their weight is competitive for the price class, and the warranty guarantees free lifetime repair or replacement of the original binoculars for defect or damage of any kind if you return them (so, not if you lose them)--all for $50 less than the competition. There are higher-clarity 10X42's on the market, but not for anywhere near this price, and frankly, if I miss any animals with them, it will be my fault, not the binoculars'.

The Binoculars are awesome. Superb clarity
The Binoculars are awesome. Superb clarity, sharpness, & toughness, Is what you would expect from a $500 and up pair of binoculars not from these. I've owned two other pairs one cheaper Bushnell the other more expensive Leopold and these are way better than both and at a affordable price. I love them, they are great. Definatly no regrets and the warranty is like no other.May 15 2017 UPDATE: I have taken them hunting in some of the worst terrain that Northern Alberta and Northern B.C has to offer and dropped them numerous times and there still going strong like the day I bought them.
