The Last Odyssey

Rollins descending?
Some intriguing stuff is discovered in a rather hostile and inaccessible location. Some expert, accompanied by civilians go there to unearth more of the mystery. Villains arrive with boom and fizzle. Action thus initiated spans across the globe, with surprises, nasty characters, nice characters, lots and lots of action punctuated by solid historical nitbits. Then we have family time— good and bad. In the meanwhile we had to not just suspend, but actually dismiss our disbelief, in order to enjoy the book.In short, a typical potboiler that we expect from Rollins. And it was very-very enjoyable. This delecious mix of history, myth, technology, conspiracy and action was unputdownable. However, it was so incredible that instead of suspense or excitement, it only induced chuckles. It's a real tragedy that Rollins went lightheaded in his quest for the identity of the sea-people, instead of sticking to historical possibilities. That's a loss for all concerned.A good formulaic thriller to pass the time. But I believe that Rollins has started losing his height. Whether he would plunge to the depths of hell following his heroes or manage to keep flying— only time would tell. But I'm afraid; very-very afraid.

An escape during COVID lockdown
I am an avid fan of James Rollins. This book is my first Sigma Force experience. I have deeply enjoyed other stand alone thrillers from the author such as AMAZONIA , DEEP FATHOM, ICE HUNT , etc.ProsThis novel is very extensively researched considering it's storyline. The action was pulse pounding. The technology used was exciting. The science backing up the mythological aspect was convincing.ConsThe characters were somehow stretched along considering their roles .The emotional elements between the characters was uncalled for.Side characters and villains has more role in the story than the main protagonist and antagonist. But as I am lock down in my home this novel came as a treat. This novel gives me some travel goals. Cheers to JR for this novel.

Super hot to keep you mind cool..!
As usual the Master story teller at his best. There are many other books on these lines 'back from the Frozen ' but James Rollins 'The Last Odyssey' is yet to be matched. It a roller coaster ride from the page one. A bit of history knowledge gives the readers the required booster shot to enjoy the ride. A must for all Rollins readers. Thanks a lot Amazon for bringing thriller to our doorstep.

Is Hell truly situated on earth??
Rollins weaves fact and fiction so masterfully that you might just end up believing it!Another past placed thriller from the master. Sigma Force is wonderful as ever, just wish Monk & Kat featured more.Pick it up, you'll definitely enjoy this.

Boring overstretched
Seems Mr.Rollins is running out of plots. Very little research here and there, same monotonous characters and same old story with change of location.

Good adventure though borders on fantasy fiction
Rollins delivers another cracking action filled adventure that the Sigma force are renowned for. I enjoyed the tribute to Homer’s Odyssey and the setting in the Glaciers of Greenland as well as retelling the journey from Troy. The plot portraying an armageddon is extremely far fetched as are the ancient mechanical devices which lends more to fantasy fiction as opposed to science fiction which Rollins is more comfortable with. It became rather too unbelievable and as such I did not enjoy the story as much as I have other Sigma escapades. Overall though it’s a decent read.

Another Tour de Sigma Force from James Rollins
How Sigma Force is NOT a long running film franchise like mission impossible I have no idea!! The non stop, heart pounding action never lets up while being constructed around a cast of diverse and interesting characters, blended with a mix of modern technology and acient myth! A powerful, thought provoking story telling style has you asking yourself if this could truly have happened. A must for all adventure loving readers who enjoy unputdownable tales of derring do and world saving antics. Another thoroughly enjoyable romp for the imagination that always culminates in a satisfying victory for the good guys. Highly recommendable!!!

From the icy caves in Greenland to the High Atlas Mountains, when I step into one of his books I'm gone for days. A brilliant addition to the Sigma Force series and a must read for any fan.
