Q: can you connect the mixer to an iPhone to record a podcast and microphone ?

I bought mine specifically for that reason and my podcast. You can record directly to a jump drive, you can use up to 6 microphones on it. For phone you just need a USB cord that matches your device. Then a set of jacks. I run mine via a laptop and double up with audacity.

Q: Does this mixer have a hissing noise problem?

That's the experience I had with it, I'm not saying for sure that you will have that same problem. I'm using the mixer on a Roland TD-17KV Electronic Drum Set
