Ok, but not memory foam and not worth the current price.
I bought this bed for my dog when she was about 12 years old. She was a big girl, 80+lbs. She liked the bed alright, but it did not seem to help much with her arthritis/pain. I ended up getting her the Coolaroo about a year later, which despite being a bit difficult for her to get on and off of later in life (she passed away last year at 16.5 y/o), still seemed much better for her needs. For one, because it was much cooler for her to lie on, and two because she was incontinent, making the coolaroo a much better option for cleaning.I still have this bed, any have used it for my new puppy, but I'm looking for a new one and won't be repurchasing this item for the following reasons:1) It is NOT memory foam. Don't know why they advertise it as such. It is simply a slab of regular, old eggcrate foam. And not that great of quality, at that.2) The price has gone up significantly in the past 5 years. While one would expect a price increase, I see nothing superior about this bed over similar ones advertised at around $40. Again, it is NOT memory foam, so there's nothing special about it.3) The cover, while it has endured several washings, is not great quality and unlikely to last if you use this bed regularly for a year or so. I'm really surprised it's lasted as long as it has. With my puppy I expect it to last another few weeks the way she chew on stuff. The bottom of the cover is a thin, cheap, netting sort of material, the kind that snags and easily tears.4) There is no way to clean the foam. And it's perfect for harboring fleas/flea eggs. This is one big reason I'm looking for a new bed for my puppy.5) The foam degrades. Yes, it's been 5 years. But I would not expect high quality foam to yellow and get funky after 5 years. Particularly when only used for less than a year. That said, it is lightweight and therefore easy to move, can fit in a car truck, and has lasted (albeit mostly kept in garage unused as Hera was on the coolaro for most of last 5 years of her life). However, I would not pay the current asking price. Maybe at $45, but def not worth $80.

Happy Happy Dogs
Okay, fine. I have two medium sized, middle-aged dogs, and maybe I could have purchased a smaller bed for each of them. When I bought two of these Extra Large Orthopedic Memory Foam Dog Pet Beds, I figured bigger was better, and what the hey? The shipping was free.I'm glad I went for the bigger size. My dogs are ecstatic that I did. These two dog beds do take up a lot of floor space in the living room. It's true that the covers could be sturdier, as well. We don't care.Together, the two humungous mattresses have created Dog Island. Chomping on chews, squeeking stuffed toys, snarfling with each other ... these mattresses are handy for much more than sleep. Setting, standing, snoozing - it's as if this has been proclaimed by the dogs as their designated area. The fact that the two mattresses are so large, taking up lots of space, has come to be a benefit for both dogs and people. Great for keeping the rest of the house clean from those white stuffing balls that float away from the torn apart stuffed animals. You know that stuff, the frustration of getting all that up and out of the carpet. Easy to vacuum - the covers are sturdy enough to withstand my extra-strength Hoover. One of the pups has some joint pain already, and I can tell that she appreciates her four inches of memory foam padding. It was worth the purchase just for this one thing - her comfort. The fact that these have provided so much bang for the buck is just a bonus.I think other dogs will find these dog beds as delightful as my pups have. I highly recommend this product.- Reba Kennedy

Mostly Good
My Dobie was a bit reluctant to get aboard this bed at first. It lacks the comfort and the invitational appearance of his previous bed which he chewed to pieces. However, When he realized that it would be at least more comfortable to lie on than the carpet he began to use it on a regular basis. He is a large Dobie and the bed is feather light so it travels all over the room whenever he jumps up to run outside in pursuit of elusive squirrels. Actually, it is in a different spot every time I enter his room. On the plus side this bed does not seem to have the chew appeal that other beds had that he destroyed. On the minus side I found that this bed is more costly than its light weight and flimsy cover should demand. For this reason I deducted one star.

Maksim & I now fight over who gets the new bed.
Ok, I will admit, I was a slight hesitant, I mean, an orthopedic bed for $79 ??? when they can cost $$$ hundreds ? I was impressed at it being lightweight (to move from place to place) yet it being extremely supportive. I was seeking at least a 4" inch thick bed, this one is 3" (thought I'd take a chance and turned out amazed at how supportive this was) ... but, when I decided to play with my Russian Wolfhound (Borzoi) puppy "Maksim" (who will, when full grown, weigh 110lbs or more) on who gets to lay on the new bed ... well, I won.Only to find that I had fallen asleep on the bed (and I weigh 165lbs !) and woke up an hour later with Maksim nudging me to get off of his new bed. Now, I can't get him off the bed. I was soooo pleased with this lightweight fully supportive orthopedic bed, that I just ordered ANOTHER one to have for my other SUV. Maksim and I travel a lot, he loves road trips and goes everywhere with me, including across country. He will now be spoiled (as he deserves) with the feeling of a five-star hotel bed to tour the country on.
