Great leash! Although I prefer the Mighty Paw 4-foot leash over the 3-foot leash.
Initially I wasn't thrilled about this leash. I bought it because I run 5k races with my 65lb dog and wanted something hands free. This leash is 36-inches, which gives your dog enough room to run BY YOUR SIDE. If you like your dog to run in front of you then you'll find this leash to be too short, as I have and was constantly kicking the back of my dogs paws until he ran by my side. However,I find this leash is GREAT for walks. Mighty Paw does make a 48-inch version which I'm absolutely in love with! It's just long enough to run with your dog in front of you without accidentally kicking them. I did originally by an extender for the 3-foot leash, but find that the extra metal clip really weighs it down. From here on I'll review both leashes since I already mentioned the only difference. At first I thought the waist strap/belt would be uncomfortably, but I find it to be comfortable when running and very easy to adjust. It has a plastic quick release buckle (great safety feature!) and 2 metal loops, one sewn in near the buckle, then other you can adjust to place anywhere on the belt by sliding it. This is an excellent feature because you can take your dog off-leash and clip the extra end to the second loop. That way you can walk around with the leash hanging at your side and still remain hands free! This works great for trail running and still works well with the 4-foot leash even though it is slightly longer. The leash part itself has 2 metal clip ends which makes it very versatile. One end has bungee all the way down to the clip, the other end has a ~10 inch section of flat doubled leash so when you stop at a road or people are passing, you can reach down and use it as a handle to keep your dog really close to your side. Another function I love! This way I don't have a dog pulling me by bungee to greet people or other dogs. The bungee is protected by an outer layer that has reflective stitching throughout. At first glance it looks dull, but light reflects off it very well. The bungee is VERY STRONG. it has just enough give so if your dog takes off after a squirrel it won't snap like a regular leash, instead it will offer enough resistance to protect you and slow your dog down. My dog's first experience he found he could grab the leash in his mouth, jump off to the side really hard then let the bungee bounce him back into me. He played yo-yo like this for a good 15 mins, I was laughing so hard I couldn't stand! Again my dog is 65lbs, so yes it's a strong bungee and doesn't have any signs of being out-stretched.Bottom line: Mighty Paw made an awesome leash! If you like your dog by your side, buy the 3-foot. If you like him running ahead of you, wait until the 4-foot leash is on sale (I think at the end of this month?).

SWEAR BY THIS FOR BIG DOGS
UPDATED -- SEE BOTTOM... I adopted a large, young lab / shepherd mix (70+ lbs). She has never been trained, and her sisters are both really mellow, well behaved. This dog is a puller and i have to walk her a LOT. a regular leash is killing me. I bought a hands-free leash originally, it had no bungee in it. That helped me a bit by not ripping my arm out of the socket, keeping my center of gravity with her lower. But someone told me to try one of these -- and WOW -- GAME CHANGER. the bungee is helping teach her not to pull me as much, it forces her to slow down before i get yanked too badly. So if you have a puller, this is great. it doesn't solve the pulling problem in general, tho -- I hired a pro to help with that! **UPDATE**: If you have a big athletic dog that can really pull and go from zero to 60 fast, you will go thru a couple of these. My first one lasted about 6-8 weeks. Keeping it for use with my easier dog. There are several pieces of rubber in here, and she yanked out the core part of it by pulling so hard, and so it still has SOME resistance left, not nearly like it was when new. STILL AWESOME PRODUCT. anything is better than ripping your shoulder out of your socket ;)

For you and your best friend
Upon receiving this device, I was imagining long runs with my dog where we both got into fantastic shape and were happy and lived forever. Incredibly, this happened. We transcended our corporeal existence into a plane of consciousness where my dog and I existed as a wave of information and spirits. Just kidding. First time we went out to use our new product, my dog acted like a dead weight, forcing me to work against her unlikely strength (she's a 20 pound aussie-collie mix) to eke out a paltry showing of my already laughable ability to run. Since our first outing she has decided to not only be a dead weight but also to lay down at random intervals while I struggle to jog. She also adds fake yelps into the scene to shame me into carrying her back home in my arms. That being said, if your dog isn't a little sassy trouble maker, this is a well-made and pretty neat product. I'm sure that you and your dog will live forever and be happy while my dog and I stare at each other in the house like an elderly couple (I'm in my 20s, she's 2). Good company, good product - just be sure to have a willing dog.

I was skeptical but... YES! BUY!
I LOVE this thing...We have two rather big (70 pound) Australian shepherds, and taking them for a run was always a pain...Even though they are both very good on the leash, the usual distraction can be dangerous.... I've almost lost a limb by having one of them wrap themselves around a tree....I was very skeptical about this, I admit... but after giving it a try, I must say it's awesome. Again, let me remind you that I am carrying 140 furry lbs. on the other end.It works perfectly... It has the perfect amount of slack and 'bouncyness' that makes me feel that they won't make me fall over or snap the cord.I can go from full speed running to a 'smooth stop' without having to worry about snapping their necks *or them snapping me in half*If it's good enough for my two dogs, I am sure that most people with one (normal sized) dogs will be perfectly fine for it. I would not use it on a dog larger than that anyway...Also, I used this to attach my two buggers to it:(...)(...)

This lead has made running so much easier!
This has helped me and my lovely lab Bessie to enjoy running together without the hassle of carrying anything at all in my hands - it keeps her safe while running on the road before I can let her off the lead. There is a place to attach my treat bag and poo bags. There’s enough give in the lead to allow her to run freely without any jolts felt by either of us. Love this lead!

Perfect
Having used this for sometime now, I can honestly say it’s the best lead I have. When walking, you have utter control and ease of knowing your dog will stop immediately when you stop. The bungee lead is perfect. More control over walks.

Too short
Too short to use around waist. OK as a long, bungee lead. Useful hooks.
