Caution: they will make you into an epic street fighter!
When I strapped these bad boys to my fists the first time a stiff breeze blew through my bedroom and ruffled the hair on my head. I thought this was odd since the window and door was closed, but that didn’t matter. When I stood up from where I had been hunched over my leftover takeout Chinese food and World of Warcraft grinding, I felt just like Ryu in Street Fighter.“Hi-YAAA!” I screamed as I punched a man-sized hole through the drywall beside my computer desk. When the dust cleared I watched as my mom dropped her basket of laundry and clasped her hands to her mouth (no doubt in awe of my new fighting abilities). I nodded to her, an acknowledgement of her praise. She fainted and I stepped through the new hole in the wall.“Hey Steve, what are you...” my 10-year old sister managed to say before I horse-kicked her in the mouth from 6 feet away with a mighty “WAAAAAAAAAA!” She flew across the living room and crashed into the television, her body crumpled and broken. No sense fighting it: the eye of the tiger was loose, and who was I to put it back in its cage?I stepped to the door and opened it...or rather I wheel kicked it right off its hinges. The splinters of wood that once kept me inside eating Hot Pockets and drinking The ‘Dew was no more. I stepped confidentially outside and into the world beyond.5/5 stars. These things are tough! Even the fight I got into with the lion at the zoo later on couldn’t wipe the shiny patina off these suckers. I lost a lot of blood, but when the police pulled these from my hands after I got maced (following a brief but epic struggle that involved a few folding chairs and a half-carafe of coffee) they still looked brand new!My sister and mom aren’t talking to me right now, but once I make bail at least have these sparring gloves to help me get by.

It's okay
I ordered a small so that I can allow my female clients to practice their punches but it came smaller than i expected. It's a good thing that the bands that you slip your hands under are stretchable so it fits tightly. I can wear these gloves too but i wouldn't recommend wearing these gloves if you're going to be punching a bag with it or doing some serious boxing. I bought these due to the fact that they have breathable palm so that it wouldn't absorb sweat from a sweaty person. However I deduct two stars because the purpose of buying open palm gloves was to not have the issue of sweat absorption; the material used for this glove can easily absorb sweat from the other side. If only this glove was covered in a type of plastic that can be easily cleaned by wiping sweat off instead of absorbing the sweat in the gloves.

Empty Hand, not empty pockets. Pad your punch the right way, and put some Bite in YOUR Fight!
Twenty-three years ago, when I first began practicing Shito-Ryu, we all used the padded cloth gloves. In the past year, though I didn't know it was possible, martial arts has gotten even more serious for me.One of my classmates, a Shodan, wears a similar pair of these gloves in white. She competes, and I noticed her gloves left her the freedom to move her hands as needed without being hindered. When I found these gloves, I purchased them immediately. I had no doubts because I had seen similar designs at work, but when I got mine, I found them to fit in a more precise, almost personal way as though they were made specifically for my hands. I have NEVER experienced gear that met those standards. My days of padded cloth gloves are long over, and for me, Piranha Gear is here to stay. It put a Bite in my Fight. It can do the same for you.

Great gloves
My problems with most foam gloves are that: the thumb piece is too tight, the thumb piece limits movement, or the inside where your knuckles hit when you punch is too hard or abrasive. These are just right. They are nice and light, constructed to allow you to keep your thumb out of the way, yet they have enough padding (and it is soft enough) to protect your partner. They also stay put when you move to grappling (and then really let you use your hands). I liked the first so much I bought a second set so that I can have one where I train and one where I teach.

Good hand fit, really tight wrist strap
Good cushioning for the knuckles, comfortable on the hands. My complaint is the wrist strap is VERY tight. I could have gone up a size, but then they wouldn't fit my hands as securely. The wrist strap needs a little extra breathing room, or the ability to strap less without the velcro digging into your skin to be ideal. These were a good price though, so I might try finagling something on my own.

couldnt use for karate
i couldnt use these for point fighting because the thumbs are exposed... im not sure if thats gonna be an issue for others because the gloves seemed really nice (just ask your instructor).. the company did take them back without hassle so I just wanted others to be aware of a possible issue...

A bit small but otherwise very good
A tad small, and you have to work to break them in, they really want to stay stiff (thats a good point too, though). Get a size bigger than your hand and you'll like them.
