Philippe Starck O-Ring Men's Quartz Watch PH1085

This is a replacement of the original I bought him over 10 years ago. He has some expensive watches but has received the most praise and comments on this watch by far. I just wish they had a smaller version for women! Please note that it was completely rusted out but I think my husband really got it wet a while back and water resistant is NOT waterproof!

I received this watch as a gift in March 2011. It was purchased duty free on a Lufthansa flight coming back from Europe. It is a very unique and stylish watch, which causes me to get a lot of compliments and comments from people in passing. The band was way too big when I first got it, so I took it to a Fossil shop to get it sized. They had it off my wrist and back on (nicely fit) in about 15 minutes. The band is made of a rubbery material and must be cut to the correct size. If done wrong, there is NO going back. I must stress this point, as the employee at the Fossil shop told me that it is better to have it a bit loose then too tight (you can always take more off, but can't add any back). As others have stated, there is no backlight, so telling time in the dark is near impossible. At that point I usually pull out my cell phone to get the time.Pros: - Gets LOTS of attention - Very unique - Band is mostly made of a rubber material and thus waterproof and basically scratch-proof - No visible buttons or sharp corners to snag on thingsCons: - No backlight - Telling the exact time is a bit tricky and requires a couple of seconds - The hour number is not always easily visible and you must tilt your wrist to get a "good angle" - If you size the watch too small, there is no way to fix it - For those with small wrists, this watch may be big. (I added a photo of the watch on my wrist at the top of the page)I enjoy this watch very much, and would suggest it to anyone that wants something unique and different. I have worn it almost everyday for the past 5 months and have had no problems, only compliments.

Watch is definitely a conversation piece. Item was marked as new but the packaging came in all banged up and scratched. Too bad because it had an interesting case.

I love this watch! It's more "form than function" but I get lots and lots of compliments on it.Now if I could only find the orange one!

For the price given, this watch isn't worth it at all. It's a pain to open the buckle by removing the pin which is absurdly difficult to pull off, and the LED display isn't even bright. The ADJUST and SET buttons don't push properly, I even had to take off the stainless-steel back to push the actual buttons. Plus, the metal screws are hassle to unscrew and screw back in. There are many other watches that are easier to use, easier to adjust to your preference, and just look better for half the price.

I have no stake in this but I felt I needed to give a fair assessment. I own this watch and wear it almost all the time. I will say this, it is not a small watch but it is not as big as people are saying. I have about an 8 in wrist and I cut the original band. I think the watch was bigger than expected but I go used to it. One thing I agree with is it is not backlit ie no light. Ok that sucks and it couple have fixed easily but not a deal breaker. The fact is a lot of watches are not backlit.Onto the good stop it is an eye catcher. Everywhere I go people ask me about it an love it. Its a great conversation starter in a room and way to meet girls. I personally like the idea of having something unique and stylish than some expensive watch that makes a completely different statement. The watch is very comfortable and water resistant. Its relatively cheap (at least in my opinion) and for the money you get a good reliable cool watch that is easy to read for you but draws others to you to ask whats that. If you don't want the attention get a timex.

Auf den Punkt:Optisch: 100% ---- mann braucht wirklich nichts zu sagen... super ding!!!technik: Hmmm... bei schlachtem Licht... keine chance die Uhrzeit zu sehen... auch kein eigenes 3 sekundenlicht oder so...Qualität: eigantlich gut, ABER: auch bei mir hat dass glaß nu ein Riß. Und ich kenn mich ehrlich nicht dran errinern die uhr gestoßen zu haben!!!!!bis jetzt habe ich noch nichts gemacht...!!!!warum nicht eine neue edition mit neuer (und besserere) technik (oled z.B) aber mit Erhalt des sehr sehr atraktiven optischen Aspekt...Fazit:1) wenn du ständig die uhrzeit auf die sekunde wissen musst: Hände weg.2) wenn du wert auf ne sehr schöne Uhr legst und bereit bist etwas Fuktionalität dafür zu opfern: Greif zu.LG

Rate jedem der nur ansatzweise daran denkt diese Uhr zu kaufen, hier von ab.Ich habe fast alle Uhren aus der Philippe Stark Serie der letzten Jahre. Alle Top.Habe mich bei dieser Uhr ebenso darauf verlassen.Lest euch vor Kauf mal die anderen Kundenmeinungen durch, und ihr werdet mir Recht geben.Die Verarbeitung lässt absolut zu wünschen übrig. Nach 3 maligem Tragen hatte ich im Glas ( Plastik ) einen Riss.Der kam nicht etwa durch Hinfallen oder falsche Handhabe, nein , ... es war ein Spannungsriss ( siehe auch die anderen Kundenmeinungen hierzu ).Nach Kontaktaufnahme mit dem Verkäufer ( nicht Amazon ),incl. Bilder der Uhr und ihrem Istzustand mit Riss, wollte er mir die Uhr mit Rücksendung und Neulieferung erstatten. Da aber die Uhr so mies verarbeitet ist und einfach nur super genial aussieht und lt. der Kundenmeinungen bei Amazon, eine Neulieferung nichts bringt, da dies wohl ein bekannter Fehler ist, lehnte ich ab und verlangte mein Geld zurück. Das sah der Verkäufer wohl anders. Man muss erwähnen, da war die Uhr 4 Wochen alt, und der Verkäufer nicht allzu kulant trotz mehrmaligem Erwähnen und Nachfragen warum diese Uhr " immernoch " hier verkauft wird. Bis heute hab ich nichts mehr gehört, geschweige Geld vom Verkäufer bekommen.Gelernt habe ich aus der Sache : höre immer auf Kundenrezessionen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
