This is security 101. This book will not teach you to hack things, this books is not a technical guide. This book covers the cores and concepts of information security. I guess I would liken it to a management level. This covers various approached and perspectives on information security, using terms and acronyms you would find in the field such as the differences between a risk, and a threat. Or C.I.A. (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability), as well as more evolved concepts like the Parkerian Hexad. This book is a must read for anyone trying to break in to the security field. Before you start hacking away make sure you know and understand the contents of this book.

An excellent choice for a textbook. arrived on time and worth the money. A wealth of knowledge. Contains plenty of info to help someone who is in the field.

Bought this for an into to the topic of information security. I have a moderate technical background and find the book to be well suited to my needs. The book is written in an interesting manner, has good information and isn't wasting my time with a lot of filler like some "basic" books I've read on IT stuff. And my manager likes the book.Summary: Good purchase. Would recommend to a colleague or friend.

Book came really quick, and I needed it for my class. No complaints at all, I needed three books for this class, but so far, we only used this one. If anything, I think it over simplifies things and does not provide a lot of details.
