Great Unit-much easy to use and more efficient than the old
Got mine yesterday. Very easy to assemble. This is about the same capacity as my older 8 year old broken unit, but leaner and more substantial. Things I noticed?1 - I actually read the instructions2- Wheels easy to instal and thats it. The wheels are a BIG plus. It is easy to move, and a little heavy3- Comes with bags. While some shreds do get inside, majority are in the plastic bag making it easier to clean. I usually, as before the bag, open it and push them down since there is a lot of airspace.4- This is a higher capacity, so experimenting to larger batches, I can do 3 times as much or more per load. HUGE tiome savings. Plus it has an "indicator" tell tell the strain so to speak. It enable me to use the best each load.5-Has the normal bag full indicator.6-HUGE plus it has a "heat" indicator which depends on the loads you put in. Usually from 20-30 minutes each run. Being new, I was cautious. This is a BIG plus over my old one, and should allow the unit to last longer, especially with larger jobs.7- It comes with a small amount of oil. But I did buy a bottle of the PROPER oil and again this is where the time between jobs comes in. When I finish the job, and wait the 30-40 mutes, it reminds me to mandatorily oil the unit, either directly or using the oiling sheets which I also bought.8- I use my ALEXA for timing...I do a timer for the 20 minute run, then a time for the 40 minute wait.Overall I m very satisfied. I bought it here because it was actually much cheaper than the big lot/box stores at the time.

I wish cutting to lose weight was as easy as cutting paper in this shredder
I wish I had bought this shredder a long time ago. I love that I can shred several pages at once, and it rarely jams, even with heavy-weight paper. It arrived already assembled, making it quick and easy to use. The noise level is what I expect from a shredder. However, it doesn't have a lock, so you need to feel comfortable with the security provided by shredding alone. It's also easy to clean if you use a bag.

Paper shredder
One of the best pieces of office technology I've ever purchased. Nothing stops this thing. It's quick, takes care of a stack of papers in only a few seconds, never fails, never jams, and eats through staples, paper clips, etc. without breaking. The cross-cut leaves documents absolutely eviscerated, it's a very secure way to destroy sensitive data. I wish the bucket held a little more, but that's on me for getting an office-friendly size.

An excellent shredder for your home or home office
An excellent shredder for the money, this Fellowes Powershred is a great bang-for-your-buck value for any home or small office with moderate shredding needs. It's compact and portable, with its caster wheels making it easy to just slide around the floor and tuck out of the way, and then pull back out when needed. If you just want to leave it out, though, the slick black and gray design means it might just fit in with the rest of your office, looking more like modern technology than unsightly equipment. It efficiently turns your private documents into small cross-shredded bits, giving you more security than simple straight-cut shredders that leave long strips of paper that can be reassembled with a little time and effort. The 79Ci's 14-sheet capacity lets you shred a number of documents at once, and its JamProof technology makes paper jams easy to deal with. By automatically sensing a problem and backing the paper up, it makes clearing jams far easier than my old shredder, which would just stop and require me to yank and tear on the paper, pulling it out one fragment at a time until the jam was clear. The sheet capacity indicator is handy by quickly teaching you how much this shredder can handle. By watching the sheet capacity indicator, you can quickly develop a sense of how many sheets at a time the 79ci can handle, and start to feed the shredder more efficiently by learning how many papers at a time you can put in at once. Before long, you can shred all of your documents quickly without pushing your shredder until it jams. This unit has dual power switches, with a "hard" on/off switch on the back and a "soft" power button on the top. For convenience you can leave it switched on in the back and hit the top button to turn your shredder on. With a gentle tap of the top "on" button, the 79ci's bright blue "on" light tells you that it's ready for action. Another gentle tap turns it off (but really just puts it into a standby mode, waiting to be activated instantly with another tap of the top "on" button). When your Powershred unit is on, the SafeSense technology keeps it from running if it detects fingers close enough to the feeder, which really helps protect your fingers as a just-in-case measure. In the rare event a real jam occurs and you need to clear paper bits out of the bottom of the unit, the SafeSense technology doesn't protect your fingers when you reach underneath, so just kill the power entirely by flipping the switch on the back (or just unplug it) so you don't accidentally tap the top button and turn it on while you're clearing the jam.I give this unit only four stars instead of five for two reasons, both related to the 6-gallon pull-out bin. The Powershred has an incredibly convenient pull-out bin which makes emptying the shredder simple, but there are two things to be aware of:1) The odd size of the 79Ci's shredder bin makes it hard to effectively put standard trash bags in. I find it much easier to empty a shredder if you line the bin with a bag, since whenever I try to dump out all the cross-cut bits into a bag from a shredder bin, I inevitably get loose shredder bits everywhere. The 79Ci comes with a few sample shredder bags that are specifically designed for this unit, and they fit perfectly, but the manual recommends ordering Fellowes' 36052 as a replacement. These bags are larger and of lower quality than the sample bags you're given, and they're quite expensive (currently around $20 for a box of 100).2) To effectively use the shredder you'll have to open the bin several times before the bin is full. The cross-shredded bits sit loosely in the bottom, and as soon as this loose pile nears the top, the 79Ci stops working with a red warning light that indicates the bin is full. If you're not using liner bags, you can just empty the bin, but you're going to end up wasting a lot of space in your liner bags if you remove them this early. Instead, you should open the bin and push down on the pile. The shredded bits compress easily and leaves much more room to keep going. You'll have to do this two or three times before the bin is really full enough to tie off and replace the bag. It wouldn't be such a concern if the bags were cheaper, but you really want to not waste bags given what you'll pay for them.Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying not to buy this shredder. In fact, I highly recommend it despite my above complaints. After a few months of use, I really love it, and actually it's made my life easier. My old shredder was old and slow and jammed easily, and I'd just let papers stack up because I wouldn't want to deal with it, until eventually I'd sit down and waste hours trying to shred everything and repeatedly fighting to keep the thing unjammed. With my Powershred 79Ci, every time I notice a few documents laying around I don't need anymore, I just turn on my shredder, feed them through, and turn it off. I'm done in less than a minute each time, and I no longer have piles of documents I don't want laying around anymore. If I do end up with a larger pile, I just wheel the 79Ci over next to my chair, and sit comfortably while shredding documents for a few minutes. My complaints are very minor in comparison to how much this shredder has made my life easier. My motto is, if you're going to buy something, buy it right once. You'll pay a bit more for this compared to a cheaper shredder, but you'll be happy with it for a long time, instead of cursing about your cheap discount unit and how you want to replace it.
